Me and a Tau mate are gonna play a 3000 point game vs Chaos. We will ofc use 1500 points each.
The mission will be to capture and hold objectives(4-6).
Im gonna take alot of warriors so that he wont be able to just focus on taking me out, leaving my TAU mate all alone, and becouse that gives me alot of troops to hold objectives with.
So i was thinking on something like this:
TAU will take care of anti tanks and long range fire.
The only thing is: Im afraid that i will lack som mobility without a lord. And importantly, no res orb. So maybe a lord + something else instead of the C'tan? But i really want to use the NB cause he is so awsome and fun to use.
What do you guys think? Havent really played alot of objective missions (or 40k really), so was wondering if it would be allright with a monolith and a c'tan in this game? Or should i take the lord? And please, if you got any critisism or suggestions, feel free to say it out
My suggestion would be. Drop 10 warriors for a Necron lord w/ orb and 3x squad of scarabs to throw in the face of some nasty assaulty thing or another. You should be ok against tanks with that much gauss and the mono/NB anyway everything on your list can take them out somehow.
Unsure about C'tan against chaos (CSM or Daemons btw?) hopefully It can do some good for you. My experiance with C'tan and Monolith is...nonexistent anyways.
Welcome to LO and good luck with your game. Tau and Necrons are an odd couple but you should be able to make it work alright.
Thanks for the reply.
Im afraid that if i drop some warriors, i will be to easy to phase out since he got 3000 points of chaos marines (not daemons) to focus on just killing me.
And I guess I would need to spread out my warriors, so will there really be a point to use a res orb at all? Im leaning against Nightbringer and monolith here now.
A res orb and monolith makes your warriors far more survivable than if they run around alone. Necrons aren't made to run out and around on their own, they NEED to support one another. I understand you're going to be playing on a very large board but you won't do as well if you scatter all over the board.
Chaos marines are probably healthier for you to be facing by the way. No khornate daemons. Make sure you don't let him get into CC with you OR your ally though, your Nightbringer will be playing goalie for both teams and can only cover so much ground. I'd also suggest fitting in tombspyders somehow for combat blockers, shooting is your phase, assault is theirs. I'd almost suggest using spyders over the Nightbringer myself, they don't hit as hard and aren't as survivable but you can afford to cover WAY more ground with them.
Also remember work with your teammate. If the two of you can work together well, your chances of winning are much stronger, join forces and support one another. You're tough he's shooty, use these aspects to your advantage.
