Welcome to Librarium Online!
So, after not playing 40k for a few years, I've decided to play my 'Nids again. If I recall correctly, my local meta is mostly SMurfs, CSM and Eldar. But, I'd like as well-rounded of an army as possible. Any critiquing is welcome:
Walking Dakka Tyrant- 2x TL Devourer, ES, TS
- 2x Tyrant Guard w/ Lash Whips
Flyrant- 2x ST, Acid Maw, both Adrenal Glands, Flesh Hooks, Implant Attack, Toxin Sacs, Wings, Warp Field
4x Tyranid Warrior: TS, 4x ST, 3x Deathspitter, 1x BS
8 Spinegaunts WON
16 Hormagaunts: I and WS AG, EC, TS
6 Genestealers: Scuttlers and FT
8 Genestealers: Scuttlers and FT
Gunfex: ES, BS, VC
2 Zoanthropes: Synapse and WB
Comes to 1500 on the nose.
A couple questions I have myself:
1) Should I go with a Flying Dakka Tyrant and a Walking CC model instead?
2) Are my warriors made right?
3) Should I go with Scuttling Genestealers, or walk them behind my walls of gaunts?
4) Are the zoanthropes worth it?
5) I know the hormagaunts are expensive, at 15 pts per model right now. But, mathematically speaking, every upgrade I put on them is definitely worth the points. The only way I'd consider dropping the enhancements is if, no matter what, they're just not effective at killing things and are better used as shock troops to get across the battlefield and tie up shooters.

First, thanks, I'll swap my two tyrants around. That makes a lot of sense.
Second, my Warriors will already have a +4 cover save from the gaunts in front of them. Why waste points on EC?
Third, the spinegaunts are merely there as a meatshield. Any wounds are a bonus. I'd rather not waste points on EC for them. If the opponent actually focuses fire on them, I'll GLADLY take it.
On the genies, if I march them in, why go EC? I'll be getting a 4+ cover save behind my gaunts, and with their high initiative in CC, more models seems more effective than EC. Also, I plan to use them to take on better units in CC, usually ones with power weapons. So, in the shooting phase, they'd use the +4 cover save, and in the assault phase, I don't think the EC is worth the points. Have your experiences showed otherwise?
Thanks for the Reinforced Chitin idea. It makes sense.
Switching the Tyrant wepons definitely a good idea, and keeping the flyrant out of combat for the most part a good idea too.
For the Warriors I'd leave them as is. The way they're set now hiding behind the meatshield is the way to go.
I'm inclined to not bother with EC for gaunts as well. AP 5 weapons are far too common for it to be worth it.
Change the EC for the Hormagaunts for Flesh hooks. If they don't strike first they'll die before they do anything.
I'd also consider dropping a couple of hormagaunts and maybe a genestealer from the 8 man brood to make all your gaunts WON.
Whatever you do DON'T get rid of scuttlers though. The possibilty for outflank is just too good, especially if you go first and put your tyrants in the middle of the table for deployment. Your opposition will almost always want to shoot at them a from range and so hug the corners ;-)
One thing about the stealers too, Toxin sacs are a much better buy in 5th. With rending not happening so often stealers can do with the extra wounding power. I played a game yesterday with a Necron player and my stealers won it for me because they were wounding on 3's.
The zoanthropes I'm not usually keen on, I prefer to use a Broodlord (you don't need to buy scuttlers, and he gives you forward synapse). The Zoanthropes do provide a lot of flexibility though and given you're working with 1500 pts. I'd say keep them in.
