I have my first tourney coming up soon. This is the list that I put together for it.2000 Pt. List
- Destroyer Lord: w/Res Orb, and Staff of Light
- Lord: w/Res Orb, War Scythe, and Phylactery
- 4 Squads of Warriors: 10 models each
- Immortals: 10 models
- 2 Squads of Destroyers: 3 models each
- Wraith: 3 models
- Tomb Spider
- Heavy Destroyer: 3 modelsTotal Pts.: 1998
Phase Out at 48 models, or 16 Models left on the board. So thats the list. There is alot of shooting which is why I wanted the wraith as one of those come out of no where models. The only thing I feel iffy on is the tomb spider. I can't decide on removing this model and replacing it with another destroyer or what. Maybe even coming up with points to put in a second extra destroyer and having two squads of 4. Oh, and I am fine with not having a monolith. Yes its a large vehicle that draws alot of fire. Also the Phly on the lord is pretty much just an add on, I didn't know what else to do with the last 17 pts.
Here is what I have that I could play with:
- 44 Warriors
- 10 Immortals
- 3 Wraith
- 2 Destroyer Lords
- 1 Lord
- 1 Nightbringer
- 1 Deceiver
- 8 Destroyers
- 3 Heavy Destroyers
- 1 Tomb Spider
- 1 MonolithSuggestions, Concerns, Trash Talk?
Heya! Welcome to LO, and our friendly neighborhood Necron sub-forum.
You got a couple tweaks and twists to work out, but in the end I think your list is pretty strong.
Your wargear needs some consolidation for one. Warcythe is more useful on the destroyer lord which will actually be able to get around and use the thing. I'd also throw a gaze of flame on the destroyer lord instead of a phylactery on the support lord. Personally I like to have a veil of darkness to jerk my opponent around with, but it's not necessary, res orb will generally see more use.
Not sure how much experience you have with wraiths, but they do NOT take shots well, be careful with them. With that destroyer lord as backup however I'd say they're good to go. Best thing would be to use them as tank hunters and anti-heavy weapon squads. Between a Wraithlord mounted warscythe and three wraiths you should be able to cut down just about every vehicle in the game without issue. (Land Raiders could be a tad difficult mind you.)
Tomb Spyders are actually ridiculously strong in 5ed. I like to field both of mine in every game I play, there is always something useful for them to be doing, even if it's just getting shot.
you have the noted "perfect" number of warriors. Most try to go with 1 squad /500pts so your good on that front.
Heavy destroyers are up to you, mine are atrocious at hitting, just...don't get any love from my dice, so i kinda find them useless most days unfortunately. If you're facing a lot of vehicles I'd say to take them. Or monstrous creatures/FNP lists.
You could split your immortals into two squads of five and use them as basic fire support within your warriors, if you need to concentrate their fire just keep them close to each other, but sometimes it's nice to spread it out, against certain targets you only need half the shots, and the can't be taken out in one fell swoop.
Liking your PO number also, 16 is pretty impressive, granted it's a 2k game.
What kinda tactics do you like to use? Also any idea for your opponents in the upcoming tourney?
And good luck!
The competition is the Exterminatus which is in March. I have no idea what my opponents will be at the tourney.
As for my tactics, so far I havnt even been able to get in a game of 2000 pts. I mostly play against a dark angels army with a lot of termies, which means i try to stay away and limit his ability to get behind me.
I never really know which gear to give my lords for the matches. Splitting the immortals is something i had not thought of. I am personally unsure about the wraith. I want the heavy destroyers so that I will have something as backup against those larger targets.
This post may not make much sense, I just got off work and I am extremly tired.
Deathwing huh? yeesh no wonder you field heavy destroyers.
Alright, we.. what tactics do you use in SMALLER games, they can still apply? Just phalanx it up?
Sorry I'm trying to get a judgment of your experience level here.
I think a good bet would be to drop the wraiths and get more tombs spyders, that could also get you an extra gaze of flame on your other lord. Or as you said, use 2 squads of 4 destroyers each, you'll want the extra bodies in a 2k game I believe.
What are you going to use to counter heavy assault troops?
Unless I end up purchasing more models, which is unlikely because I am still hurrying to get the last bit painted, I only have what I listed above right now.
My over all experiece level is pretty low in large pt games. I have been playing Necs for the last 5 months or so, and got in a lot of low level games. But until recently I havn't had the destroyers and such which can move fairly quickly, resulting in my need to form up and shoot.
