    500 pt tourney

    hey all,
    the upcomming tourney at my local shop will be 500 pts, so here are the lists I was thinking of..

    i like number 1 but i would switch the spiders for 2 vypers with shuri cannons or 2 walkers with scatter lasers - latter would be my preference -the shere torrent of fire should see you through most games

    The biggest problem I see is that you have nothing to kill armored vehicle at distance. Cause in a 500 pts in it not unlikly to encounter Leman Russ or even Land Raider (which in very annoying in such games). The Farseer/Autarch could do the job but they have to get really close and that could be tricky. So, I think you should try to add a hard hitting gun in your list.

    Is there any rules about maximum armour values for the tanks? Or maximum wounds for the charecters? If not, then id agree with toeknees advice about getting some anti-tank, otherwise I like number 2 for the mobile autarch.

    it depends if this follows the 40k in 40 min rules the yes as the total av can't exceed 33 -counting side once

    if not then no but seriously 4 shot str 6 should see off most tanks your liable to see in 500 points hell should see of most tanks liable to see in 1000 points -worst case just put in reserves and bring it in from the sides should get a nice side if not rear armour shot

    Hey,
    thanks for the comments so far,

    first of all there are no restrictions (like max AV 33, or 2 wounds)
    that would mean I'm lacking on AT, so what do you suggest?

    Since you have two War Walkers you could equip one with two EML for 10 points more. It would make you 507 points which I think can fit depending on the rules, if not you could remove a Dire Avenger from your 137 pts squad and had a Spirit Stone on the other War Walker to make a perfect 500 points.

    I don't like the first Avenger squad with the exarch & dual cats. The strength of exarchs is the ability they can bring to the group, and right now its 17 points just to take another 2 shots. Maybe, either drop an avenger to pick up bladestorm, or just not take the exarch.

    For long range anti tank I would take a min sized guardian squad with an EML, which can also be used for anti infantry. At 500 i dont think there would be too many full squads, so taking full 10 avengers may end up in wasted shots, or drop the exarchs. Being able to split their fire allows you to hit more targets and to focus if needed too.

    Maybe something like :

    Farseer
    --doom
    --singing spear => 83

    Guardians (10 )
    --EML => 100

    Avengers (8 )
    => 96

    Avengers (8 )
    => 96

    War Walker
    --dual scatter laser => 60
    War Walker

    thanks for the reply,
    that looks like a real good list (if anyone doesnt agree plz let me know)
    but since I think warp spiders look much cooler then the walkers, do you think I can switch them... I mean are the walkers really needed in such lists, or are spiders a waste of points (since I don't have them yet, I can't tell)

    i depends on your preference i personally would never feild spiders -the magor atractor is the second jump in the assault... which can kill you yeaaah they really thought that one over *insert eye rolling and sarcastic tilt to voice* maybe if they were 4-6 points cheaper but atm they are just too expensive and die far too quickly

    i love warwalkers they are dirt cheap and killy 2 walkers respledent with scats will put out 16 str 6 shots - now throw in guide and doom and all thats left of the opponent is mulch

    another albiet expensive option is wraithguard in small points there aint nothing that can withstand them slaying all opponents on 2's and tanks on 5-6's not only that but they are a rock hard bodyguard for the farseer which consequently would negate wraithsite

    and also if your looking to really dominate then a wraithlord would be the same points as the walkers and be nigh unstopable
