    Tournament 1500

    HQ (194):
Shas'el (PR, MP, TA, HWMT) (97 points)
Shas'el (PR, MP, TA, HWMT) (97 points)

    Elite (302):
    2x Deathrain (TLMP, TA) (106)
    2x Deathrain (TLMP, TA) (106)
    3x Stealth Suit (90)

    Troop (532):
    9x Fire Warriors (90)
    -Devilfish (DP) (85)
    9x Fire Warriors (90)
    -Devilfish (DP) (85)
    13x Kroot (91)
    13x Kroot (91)

    Heavy (470):
    Hammerhead (Rail, BC, DP) (155)
    Hammerhead (Rail, BC, DP) (155)
    2x Broadside (BASS) (160)

    Total: 1498

Tactics: Very straightforward. FWs deploy in their Devilfish and stay there unless they get into some really good cover, or do some FoF combination plays. Kroot Infiltrate into cover and pillbox, preferrably on an objective. Suits do what they're designed to do, Stealths acting more as harriers than anything (local area knows me for them and the broadsides, they'll be used extensively as bait).

I rather deliberately omitted my normal Pathfinder team, since they're falling too fast in my local area. I just can't depend on them, and the exclusion allowed me to go to 4 Troop choices, along with upping their numbers.

The Troop unit sizes look odd, but are chosen quite deliberately. Being one over a multiple of 4 makes the unit deceptively hard to break or force tests on. The Devilfish Drones will be quite willing to disembark at need, though I most likely won't do this except as last-second contest or if a FW squad NEEDS to be protected from assault.

I fight for the Greater Good. Too bad for you it's MY Greater Good.

    Snow Forces of T'olku W/L/D : 3-4-2... I like to think I'm learning, though.

If you intend to keep the Firewarriors inside their Devilfishes for the most part then you may want to cut them to minimal squads and field two more stealth suits. A minimum stealth unit is almost irrelevant to your enemy. If you decide not to, at least see if you can give them a fusion blaster so they can menace hard targets.

    The list looks good otherwise.

    HQ:
Shas'el (PR, MP, TA, HWMT, HWBSF) (100 points)
Shas'el (PR, MP, TA, HWMT, HWBSF) (100 points)

    Elite:
    2x Deathrain (TLMP, TA) (106)
    2x Deathrain (TLMP, TA) (106)
    4x Stealth Suit (120)

    Troop:
    6x Fire Warriors (60)
    -Devilfish (DP) (85)
    6x Fire Warriors (60)
    -Devilfish (DP) (85)
    13x Kroot (91)
    13x Kroot (91)

    Heavy:
Hammerhead (Rail, BC, DP, MT) (165)
Hammerhead (Rail, BC, DP, MT) (165)
Hammerhead (Rail, BC, DP, MT) (165)

    Total: 1499

After some experiments, I've found that BASS units without drones are just too fragile. They get targeted and wiped from the face of the earth by any stray tank-hunter. Thus, I replaced it with another Hammerhead.

I realized that I was missing the Multi-Trackers from my tanks last time as well, which is just a BIG mistake. The lost mobility really hurt. I added them now to all 3, and to cover the cost reduced the FW squads to 6. I find that they are almost never outside of their Devilfish, so the unit size is not really doing anything. Using the now-open points, I put a fourth suit into the Stealth team, then Blacksun Filters on my two HQ suits.

The Stealthers are proving to be just what I'd hoped for them to be, decent harriers that distract a disproportionate number of enemies from more important targets (such as my tanks).

The Deathrains have been worth their weight in gold, and any time one of the Fireknives caught an enemy out in the open that enemy lost a couple of models/wounds. Considering testing Helios or Bladestorm/Firestorm config to see how it goes. If I save enough points, I'll drop a fifth suit into the Stealth team and turn it into a truly credible threat instead of just a harrier.

    Any thoughts?

    Noobish Tendancies

    Right Noob Here:

    Your Kroot.

There are more Kroot than Fire Warriors... With your 3 HammerHeads you would think that Krott wouldn't be the obvious choice. I would drop A kroot for a Fire Warriors Squad.

    Just me though

The Kroot are fine, and in fact are better than Firewarriors in several ways. Given any cover, they should do a decent job of holding the home objective without much assistance from the mobile elements of the list.

    List looks fine to me.

Question: have you thought about adding SMS to your transports and RH's?

The reason I ask this is if your FW's never disembark then your transports and RH's could be aiding the lack of FW's with SMS spam. 5 vehicles with 4 shots each equals 20 LOS immune accurate shots per turn, which can be very helpful because your tanks can't do it all. Plus, if your DF are popped you could lose another VP due to the vehicle drones ding during certain scenarios.

Other than changing a few things around in the HQ/ Elite section for some more MP's I think you have a great list. Actually, one of the finer ones I seen on the boards, so anyways, good luck.

I did intend to, but just as points sinks. I just forgot to update the cost.

Your Deathrains, they're 118 points, not 106. Or, am I missing something here?

Also, when I totalled up your list above, it looks like the total's 1438 points, including the Deathrains real points cost.
Otherwise I find that it's a pretty solid list ^_^

kai, I just checked my math on both counts, and I came to 53 points per deathrain and 1499 for the total list. I think you might have missed one of the FW squads.
