Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi as title mentions im new to the forum and thinking on starting an eldar army, at the moment im abit unsure of a few things which hopefully can be cleared up.
My current list is
farseer with guide, doom, spear and spirit stones
6x scorpions with scorp claw exarch
10x banshees with executioner exarch
2x squads of dire avengers, dual cats on exarch
2x squads of dark reapers with maybe eml's and fast shot
i think that comes to around 1k points but my aim is for a rough 1500 point army. At the moment im not sure if it will be better to run wave serpents to get the banshees up close, to get more serpents to get everyting (DA's + banshees) up close. Or if i should run wraithlords and avatars to soak fire letting the other units get in there.
Two things that ive been wondering are: what are teh rules for transports? I dont really hace access to a rulebook right now because of location but the main things are: how fast do they move, when can you disembark and can you assault after disembarking?
The second thing is how effective are dark reapers and is it even worth taking two squads of them? i see the exarch's tempest launcher says G48 (does that mean its guess range?).
Any input and advice would be lovely, and just another minor question: What does MEQ mean? i see that alot on this forum.
The rules for transports are variable depending on how far they move:
Eldar transports in general are much faster than most other armies, but for example you can't move the full range, disembark, shoot and then assault (as far as I'm aware, I could be wrong) Personally out of your choices for further upgrades, I'd get wave serpents for as much of your army as you can. Eldar are a very mobile force compared to most other 40k forces, and it makes sense to cash in on their strong points as much as possible. Kit out your wave serpents with some Missile Launchers and you have a versatile winner right there.
G48 is guess range, yes.
MEQ stands for "marine equivalent" - Basically anything Space Marine or Chaos space marine, or very close to the Statline for the standard troops of both. There is a thread somewhere on this forum which is basically a list of all the abbreviations commonly used on this site. It's worth a flick through if you're going to be spending any amount of time on here. I'd link you to it if I could remember where it was myself.
I'm just starting up with Eldar myself by the way.
Oh, and best of luck to you
the Tempest Launcher is G36' by the way.

The transports question realy depends on how you want to play. I would suggest getting transports for those dire avengers and banshees.
With the cover rules in 5th edition dark reapers did get a bit worse, and might not be as worth it anymore. If you want to take them I would suggest just one unit of them. Those marines can hide in cover negating most of your powerful ap3, but with tactical placement of objectives you can get around this. Place objectives out in open ground where there is no cover. That way if they want to take it they will get shot up by your reapers.
Overall I would suggest taking a long look at all the choices in the book. Once you have read it again pick a style of army you want to play. If you want to be in transports have pretty much everything in transports. As it stands your list is disjointed, you could pull it off, but it is best to build a list that will all work together.
