I am the very definition of noob when it comes to this game. But is it not an unwritten law that Tau armies need Railheads. Again...me am noob. So hammer down my probably incorrect opinion accordingly!
Most people will run railheads and usually I will as well. My list is based on my 1500 list I am currently running. It was the first tau list I ever wrote and wanted to give it another try. Thus far it has exceeded my expectations and done much better then it did when I first started my Tau.
This list gives you 4 twin linked rail gun shots all at different targets. It also gives 6 twin linked mpod shots. In most battles I have destroyed 50%-75% of the enemy armor on my first turn of firing. That includes all transports. Granted, my heavy guns are stuck in their starting positions. However, with true line of sight I can usually see most of everything on the board. Using ML hits to strip cover saves on vehicles does the rest.
I haven't gone up against a horde list yet but I designed this list to give me a lot of pulse rifle shots to deal with horde armies. The hope is that with ML hits improving my BS and stripping cover, horde armies should drop like flies. Theoreticly speaking anyway.
your logic is inescapable.
