Welcome to Librarium Online!
Okay, well since the fall of heroclix, a group at my local shop has decided to pickup 40K. The more we order, the more we read, the more excitement is built up. Everyone from the group choose a different army which is great. So far we have 1 SM, 1 IG, 1 Tau, 1 Ork, and myself Necron. Also, word got out that the shop was getting serious about 40k so players from near by cities have shown a lot of interest. I am just starting my collection so my list is very limited. I have only bought the Necron Phalanx. The shop will be starting with 1000 pt games.
1 Lord (Orb, GoF)

I don't want to use the monolith in 1000 pt games because it just seems likes too many points. Im excited to use it in larger point games but not in 1000 pts. Please leave any and all comments because I'm willing to learn all I can. Also, I'm in the process of getting my hands on some Immortals.
Heya Stifle, welcome to LO, and welcome to the Necrons as well.
Looks like a great list to me. Shooty heavy, and assault might get you into trouble (with the orks more than anything, you have a majority of shooty armies it seems) but your have plenty of necrons and enough raw firepower to get you through most opponents. It's cool that all those people are getting into 40K at the same time.
Suppose I could throw you some tidbits on tactical maneuvers and such.
For the most part, keep your warrior units within range, but with the warriors themselves spread out, this is especially helpful against opponents such as IG, who will tend to start smashing battlecannon shots into your squads, the less models hit the better!
Destroyers, again keep the squads near to one-another, we don't do so hot when our units run around on their own, keep units within range so that if one squad gets wiped out, it can still make it's WBB rolls. Destroyers should concentrate on the highest-ranking threats first, and keep them out of charge range/firing lanes. Warriors will be able to pretty much steam-roll over most everything you run into, as long as they stay out of assault so they can utilize that pretty gun of theirs.
I wish there was a way to fit some counter-charge units (scarabs or tomb spyders) in your list, think you'd have to drop a destroyer for that though.
Thanks Alzer for the advice. I was also thinking about this list.
1 Lord (Orb, Warscythe)
Points: 1000 PO:9
Hmmm, yeah I think the second list might serve you better in the long run for flexibility's sake. I'd drop the warscythe though, gives the lord more potential to kill most opponents (unless you KNOW beforehand you have to deal with 2+ saves or lots of Invluns)
