Played a game tonight against my roomate's Witch Hunters
HQ: Destroyer Lord w/ res orb.
Trp: 2x10 Warriors
FA: 2x2 Wraiths
HS: Tomb spyder
Total: 748, PO- 8
HQ: Cannoness, blessed weapon, jump-pack, cloak, mantle, inferno pistol
Elt: Celestines, veteran w/ bolter, meltagun?
Elt: repentia x4 w/ squad leader
Trp: 2x10 Sisters, 2x meltaguns each, veteran with bolter
This was a REALLY close match, it came down to my tomb spyder, and two half squads of warriors, versus a 3/4 squad of sisters and the exorcist (which after shooting three times AND assaulting with my lord, didn't take so much as a glance RAAAAGGGGEEEEE).
Tomb Spyder was of course the king of the battle, wiped out a celestine squad and double teemed a sisters squad (with the lord) and finished off the cannoness.
I've never rolled so poorly on WBB in my life, I made....6-7 out of all the casualties I took, it was frigging ridiculous.
I still hate having init 2 on warriors, getting beat by SoB with an equal number of attacks is scary.
I didn't fail a LD check, and neither did my opponent, who'da thunk?
Rapid-firing warriors vs. Repentia = happy alzer (no more eviscerators!) That was a major turn in the game, since she lost the second biggest CC unit in her army.
Celestines are a PAIN to kill with wraiths, they always hit on 3+ and those 3+ saves are no fun to deal with either.
One of my wraiths (the only one that SURVIVED my charge with them) kept the cannoness busy for...5 round in close combat, neither side took wounds until the wraith got dropped, saved me a good beating I would think.
Note to self...destroyer lord needs phase shifter to take on cannoness in future...
Wraiths also need to stay closer to a resorb...bah.
A VERY fun game though, we traded blows like the heavy infantry armies we were, heavy support and HQs did all the heavy lifting. Wraiths need some work, I figured they could take on 5 elites with GUNS but...no... Ah well, always learning, always learning.
gratz on the win alzer, im curious about how quick the lord and wraith were going though, were they boosting to close in or just moving along to let the spyder catch up...sorta
There is no "I" in "team", there is an "I" in "pie" however, as in "Meat Pie" with "Meat" being an anogram of "Team".
Oh lol sorry, I forgot to add, I got phased out. (no remote clue what turn though, I think it was 5?)
The wraiths I jumped ahead (first turn 12" move, second turn charge for one squad and TB to get close enough for support for the other) The Lord actually babysat my warriors with the spyder until getting in charge range, the Exorcist was far to dangerous to just let them sit around and soak S8 AP1 shots without the orb.
Mostly the wraith's problem was they broke against the celestines, who were actually able to take them down in CC, and I failed my WBB on the two that charged them.
i think it woulda been cool to add destroyers instead of wraiths and tomb spiders, thats just my opinion, but yours must work obviously cuz you won necrons rule
I had indeed considered using a list with 6 destroyers, but decided to experiment instead of just dusting my opponent with gauss cannons.
And as noted in my previous response, I actually got phased out, which I'm sorry I made unclear originally.
