My basic list is as follows:
Necron Lord RoVod
5 immortals as retinue
This list usually plays against cc heavy lists, daemons, nids, and occasionally a wych heavy DE. Basic strategy would be to utilize the flying circus, and monolith teleport to avoid cc. Any improvements you guys would see to make?
Ahhh I can see where you're having problems here.
In general but ESPECIALLY against combat armies, You need to have your warriors in minimum squads, this lets them spread out more, keeps your Phase Out split up and lets you capture more objectives.
You don't need the Distruption fields on your scarabs with the heavy destroyers there, drop them for more warriors. Also scarabs will not be overly effective against combat heavy armies anyway, I'd almost say drop them entirely.
Bulk up on Immortals and Destroyers, most of the bulk-killing you need to do is against troops, you want as many long range shots as you can get. I sugest a full squad of 3 destroyers in addition to your current squad.
Don't split your forces up so much, use the VoD and Monolith portal in a reactionary way instead of offensively. Also, keep your mono UP FRONT, Deldar, Nids and Daemons all have a really really hard time taking monoliths down, and it's firepower will be a great boon, as will it's ability to get in the way of enemy assaulters.
Actually..I'd say drop the VoD for now, use the monolith to port you around. That way you get maximum firepower, and it's not like you're going to be ALIVE after they charge you to teleport away anyhow.
Best of luck.
Okay, after a little revision, I have the following list now
Heavy Destroyer (Even worth fielding only one?)
The upgrades on the lord are simply point fillers, everything else should be fairly obvious, thoughts?
Lightening Field and Gaze of flame might actually be a decent pair of upgrades for the lord, it will make one of your squads far moe charge resistant.
No it's not worth fielding just one Heavy destroyer. See if you can't fit a pair of tomb spyders in there instead? I think if you take JUST a res orb on the lord, you'll be set for that.
Sadly, if I get rid of the upgrades, and heavy destroyer, to pick up 2 spyders, it puts me 5 points over QQ.
Instead maybe drop all that stuff and one Warrior squad to get 10 Immortals. So it would look like this:
Necron Lord: Resurrection Orb
(I Wonder how many 1500 point Necron Lists look exactly like the one I just proposed above... GW please give us another codex with more options, we're getting bored here as there's only so many competitive lists Necrons can make)

Lord (R. orb + W. scyth)
The lord babysit the warrios when they move in phalanx formation with the monolith giving them cover untill they are in fire range. The immortals and destroyers protect the flanks. Dont know if this is any help to you, but you can give it a try
