I've been wanting to take my Tau out for a spin again, so here's the list that I'm contemplating. Here's some questions that I have regarding Tau in 5th ed. :

    1) Is it better to have the Pirhanas separate or together? Separate, they have a better chance of survival. Together, they save a kill point... what do you think?

    2) Should I stick both Shas'El s with the Crisis team when I deploy? I figure that the Shield drones will help save their butt if needs be, but they also get a huge target on their foreheads.

    3) Targetting arrays on stealth teams... worth it?

    Thanks!

    Currently Playing:
Fantasy: Daemons (Angels), 40k: Black Templars

personally I would Take a 3 man Deathrain squad (TLMP + TA) instead of one unit of Stealth teams. I would use the extra points to flesh out your FW squads

This actually looks like a fun army to play. I'm not sure that it will be extremely competitive but still looks like fun.

Hordes will probably cause you some problems. You rely on one hammerhead pie plate and then mostly SMS on the devilfish to deal with them...not sure if that will be enough. Stealth suit Burst cannon just don't cut into hordes fast enough and some of the faster hordes will just assault the stealths as fast as possible and can take the attrition to not matter.

Against shooty armies, IG, SM, both Eldar, this list should be fine. I question your success against Orcs, and especially Tyranids just for their attrition factor.

This is one of the drawbacks I see to the Tau, the only way to have an army that can effectively deal with Hordes is to run bare minimum, 2 hammerheads with Railguns.
