Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello, i just started playing necrons and i love them. But i dont know what to get next i was thinking more destroyers or flayed ones. so heres what i got now.
1 necron lord with destroyer body, warskythe and orb 180
1 monolith 235
7 scarabs 84
28 warriors 504
3 destroyers 150
and i just ordered a nightbringer 360

so if you got any advice on what to get next itd help alot. i find wraiths are cool but i dont know how they are in the fight. i also really like the destroyers and the lord on the destroyer body just because there fast
PS. the armies i will most likely be fighting are orks, chaos marines, eldar and tyranids.
Heya Necrons, welcome to the Tomb, and Welcome to Lib. Online!
First off, for model points on single models, please X them out, everyone knows how much the nightbringer costs around here. (it's ok for full units, just a copyright thing to keep in mind).
I'm always REALLY iffy about using Monolith + C'tan in 1.5k, it just never sits well with me, so many points of non-necron, that and their play styles are violently different. (Monolith is strongest as phalanx support, while Nightbringer is more of a "get in their face" unit) Heck I'm usually against using 2 HQ units in 1.5k just because of how expensive 'cron HQ units are.
I'd say your first order of business should be grabbing 3 more destroyers, boost yourself up to two squads of 3. It's an eye opening experience. Destroyers are the best unit in the Necron Codex, I've never heard anything to make me believe the contrary.
I'm curious as to what your purpose for Flayed Ones would be. They have a limited number of roles they can fill out these days. Surgical assault units (sneak them into enemy soft-spots, this is what most Necron CC units are best at) Retinue (for a gaze of flame lord) their ability as an anti-charge unit is limited due to their lack of power weapons.
i really like the look of the flayed ones and the deepstrike ability... popping up behind my eldar's friend's rangers is always a tun of fun. especially when you see the look on his face
and ya thats what i was thinking about the destroyers. and i find monolith and night bringer will work well together because the monolith can hold off for example a big group of gaunts while the night bringer makes sure no additional units flanking me.
Ah...DS flayed ones, not a fan. I don't like having my unit sitting around in the open waiting to get shot. Deep Striking can be really inneficient for getting your units up. I prefer infiltrating Flayed Ones, there's no mishap, they can be close, and their move through cover can get them to any opponent you so desire. Run also means they can move pretty quick towards their prey (well, opposed to before)
What point size are you going for with your list by the way?
2000 points i guess.. but ill probably take your advice and get more destroyers
i also find wraiths really cool, what do you have to say about them?
I have a couple of suggestions if you care to hear them:
1) I recommend not using a C'tan OR Monolith in any less than 1500 points. I only start adding them when I'm making lists bigger than 1500 personally.
2) Using BOTH in an army of less than 2000 points may cause real troubles with phasing out and taking objectives.
3) Destroyers rule. Both regular and Heavy Destroyers have excellent mobility, survivability and firepower. I use lots of them. I used to use lots of immortals, but IMO destroyers are better, not to mention you can find destroyers by the dozen on ebay for cheap.
4) Tomb Spiders are really nice in 1500 or less points. They help prevent phasing out too early by boosting the WBB ability, not to mention they are a monstrous creature for less than the cost of a couple of warriors.
Wraiths are rather difficult to use, they are one of the easiest to kill squads in the Necron force. However when applied with the correct precision (or force of numbers) they can be pretty nasty. Good for tank hunting, heavy weapons squads, and snipers. Or if you take two squads and put a wraithlord with them, they can kill just about anything in the game. I'm sadned that wraiths can't take on other close combat units effectively, they are one of my favorite models.
Check out the Arts of the Red Harvest Threads up in Indexes, we've gathered up piles of info on different units, hopefully it has something that can help (really all the indexes are helpful)
