Ok, this is my first shot at an eldar list so any C&C is welcome. What i mean by semi-competative is that this is not nessaceraly a tounament list, but me and the people i play with tend to try and make the most powerful lists we can with out ventureing into the sheer harshness of tournament tactics.
Farseer - 140
10 Dire Avengers - 152
-Exarch w/ 2 catapults
10 Dire Avengers - 262
-Exarch w/ 2 catapults
5 Pathfinders - 120
5 Fire Dragons - 190
7 harliequins - 184
-All with kisses
Fire prism - 150
Fire prism - 150
Same as above plus:
9 Scorpians - 186
6 Pathfinders - 144
Wraithlord - 155
+1 Pathfinder to other squad
The idea is to have the farseer move up with and fortune the avatar, and may or may not be in with the dire avengers. The harlies screen the dire avengers provideing cover and counter chargeing with the avater or vise versa. The pathfinders stay back and do their thing while holding a home objective while the fire dragons and mounted avengers rush forward after their respective targets. The fire prisms sit back and either take out early tanks or bombard infantry.
In 2000 the wraithlord either moves up with the avatar or goes up the oposite flank while the scorpians outflank
Again I have never played with or against eldar before, so im not sure if this is how they are ment to be playedor not.

hq- one thing i try to avoid is giving farseers 2 powers. this makes the unit super expensive and if he dies, its a lot of points down the drain. If you must take 2 powers i usually take 2 serperate seers.
Elites- consder the troop leader, his power weapon really helps out.
consider a better gun for the serpeant, it is twin linked.
heavy support- id drop the holofields, not that they are not good, but i find them not entirely necessary all the time. i almost always take spirit stones for them though.
Also, i never shield anything with harlquins, their power is good, but as soon as he gets to shoot at them youll find that 5+ isnt going to save many of those expensive models from even the weakest guns.
Holofields are too expensive, I would definitely drop them
Other than that the list looks great, although you might want to give the foot slogging DAs a shimmer shield because they will get shot lots.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
The idea with the harlequins was not nessaceraly to dedicate them to sheilding the avengers but mearly have them go infront of them and provide a cover save seeing as how the first turn or two they will be going at the same pace.
I think i will take out the holofields, in edditon to the extra points, most of the armys i play have no mobile anti tank which means they could just stay 60 inces away and fire away
That leaves me with 70 points to spare, if i add another harlequin and make him a troop leader that will drop me down to 32
I could stick scatter lasers on both wave serpants, or just on the avengers' and give the farseer warding.
Also, Norman, the shimmersheild only works in combat
Just a thought, you might want to consider an Eldar Missile Launcher on the Serpent - it may be a little steep on the points for a BS3 unit but given the option of choosing between krak and plasma missiles means it's very versatile.
Eldar: W:11 D:8 L:3
When you say cover saves, do you mean the harlies 5+ inv save? cause uhhh the same thing applies watch your 20sumthing pt models vanish when an opponenet finally gets to shoot at them.if anyone is sheilding anyone, it should be DA shielding harlies. But you should be running through terrain with harlies and stopping in terrain to get better saves. Harlies should never be charged either, try charging (furios charge) then withdrawing back to cover or something. Then charging again geting the furious charge. THat is the general idea behind them, but it doesnt always work, also, even though they have rending weapons, consider the death jester, i always take him against low ld armies, so he can pin the unit im chasing and stop them dead in their tracks only to be charged over and over by harlies.
I still think you should consider dropping some points off that farseer, hes too damn expensive and actually very fragile.
Yeah get that troop leader for the harlies...yahhh.
And scatter lasers are good for 1 more shot, thats up to you. I go with EML or BL on my wave serpeant. I save scatter lasers for vypers aned gun platforms. as they are very easy kill so they get the cheap weapons.
What about the harlequins jacking the avengers wave serpent. theyd rush up and shoot for something deadly or just cause a little havoc and give the avengers and avatar time to move up
Just thought you'd ought to know that your pathfinder points are summed up wrongly in both cases, so it'll mean a little tweaking for the rest of the army anyway
Wow... dont know how i messed that up. But i fixed it and it does add some points to the 2000 which means something has to go. Maybe the extra pathfinder?
Also, would it be a viable staragy to doom for the harlequins and reroll anything thats not a six to max out on rends
That would be fine. I suppose, I tend to not give harlequins tranpo because of the VoT and they can move in and outta cover easily.
I dont even know if you can reroll nonrending wounds, since it only says you can reroll failed to wound rolls. Even if you can, i wouldn't Im just happy to wound period when i make wounds.
I usually doom for banshees because of low str. But of course i doom for other things. Doom for harlies would be good, just dont reroll the failed rending if you wounded..(if you even can).
To get under 2000pts, drop a pathfinder, and upgrade something else with the ramining points.
To get under 1500 pts, you will probably have to drop something....probably a harly kiss. Most opponents wont let you be over because there is something you can drop that will benefit them. Unless of course they are over too.
