I just got a new Necron army and was wondering what you old pro's think of this list? Its for a tourny coming up on the 22 of Aug.
Lord, Vod, RO
The idea is to get all the re-rolls from the Lord and the Monolith wile laying down a lot of shots as a march at the enemy. the Night Bringer is there to counter strike and rain down death and carnage as normal.
feed back always welcome and happy gaming!
Welcome to the Tomb Ravadge
Fer starters, army lists go in the army list sub-forum.
For your list, it looks pretty good. I think the first change i would personally make is to drop some warriors and get your destroyers up to two squads of 4 each, makes them more survivable and increases your firepower.
The Lord doesn't grant any re-rolls for anything, only the monolith can do that. Also with this list in a tournament setting your opponents are going to go for your warriors pretty hard, you're going to have to be very careful about your positioning. DOn't let your warriors get in charge range, if they look like they might get charged, port them somewhere else, or make SURE you can kill whatever unit is attempting to charge them.
Destroyers are your spear, choose the most dangerous targets in your enemy's force, (heavy weapons, tanks, or strong assault units) and gun them down first, focus fire, hit a target with both squads until it's down. If they can get side armor hits on a vehicle, do so, you might actually be able to penetrate their armor.
For Immortals, either use them as a core for your army, targeting big threats that your destroyers can't attend to and ripping them up, or jump them around with a veil of darkness. Personally I'd say use 2x 5-man squads for this, it's less models to fit in spaces when you deepstrike, giving you less chance of mishap. Also with 2 squads of 5 they are more survivable and more flexible.
The Nightbringer should be more of a shield than a direct assault leader, keep him in the middle of your forces. Use his ranged attack until you become reasonably able to charge. Nightbringer can be very intimidating, however against some armies he will just get shot to death, so make sure you keep cover around (cover you can hide the WHOLE model behind).
Monolith will be well placed in the center of your force, behind your infantry lines. Keep it far enough foreward to be able to hit with it's particle whip and not scatter onto your forces. Also make sure to teleport any heavily damaged units back into the portal.
I'm curious, btw, 2050? Never heard of people playing 2050 before.
Thanks for the post Alzer! You right about the rerolls, what I ment to say was the lord would allow the we'll be back rolls even if hit by rail guns, lascannons and power weapons and the Momolith would give the rerolls. So, sorry for the mis-post.
I think I'll go with the 4 destroyers in 2 units now that you mension it. The immortals in 2 units does sound good because you can sepperate fire if one finishes the job... its all making sence to me now.
On the points I haven't played that mount either but they say 2050 so I bring 2050. Quick question, it is still 2000+ points and the force oragization chart gets doubled? If you don't know no worries.
You're welcome. And I understand getting them crossed up, I was just making sure you were clear on that.
No, the force org chart remains unchanged in 40K unless you play Apocalypse or some other alternate rules set. Good luck with your tournament, come tell us how it goes.
*moved to army list section*
Spambot kill tally. . .337
its a very solid army start, you have all your essentials and more. i would recommend getting a destroyer lord because its a good option on the shelf, not to mention hes a fast unit and with the destroyer body gets +1 T and is able to fly over rough terrain easy.
And ill add that tomb spyders are a good heavy support and are good to replace the monolith if you dont feel like using it.
