    3 Tau lists (long?)

Good morning, and Happy 4th, to all!

I've created a few, small-point lists. I would like to post them, and get your feedback. Please remember, I'm insane, and my choices are named after characters on NCIS ( with gear to suit their personality ).

    250pt list

HQ - shas'el -Fire Knife-( Director Vance ) with missile pod, plasma rifle, targeting array, HW MT, and HW BSF

    T - 10 Kroot

    T - 8 FWs

    498/500pt list

HQ - shas'el -Fire Knife-( Director Vance ) with missile pod, plasma rifle, targeting array, HW MT

E - shas'ui team leader -Helios-( Agent Gibbs ) with fusion blaster, plasma rifle, targeting array, HW MT

    T - 10 FWs

    T - 12 Kroot

HS - hammerhead gunship with railgun, two burst cannons, MT

    749/750pt list

HQ - shas'el -Fire Knife-( Director Vance ) with missile pod, plasma rifle, targeting array, HW MT

E - shas'ui team leader -Helios- ( Agent Gibbs ) with fusion blaster, plasma rifle, targeting array, HW MT

E - 3 shas'ui ( Team Ziva ) and team leader with ML, HW DC with 1 MD, bonding knife

T - 12 FW and devilfish with disruption pod

    T - 10 Kroot

HS - hammerhead with railgun, 2 burst cannons, multi-tracker

    So, what do you think?

It seems like a pretty nice progression,
I would try and get the BS boost and DP's on the Hammerhead though. Should be able to do it by dropping one or two FW's.

Hammerheads come with the Targeting Array upgrade already, you don't have to buy it again. I agree that Disruption Pods are a must, however, and dropping a single Kroot Carnivore will let you take the upgrade without giving you too much of a point deficit.

Overall not bad, though the Stealth Squad worries me at 750 points; it's definitely a very useful squad, but in such a low points game, you really need to max out your killing power instead of relying on support units, I feel. I would consider taking something else, but then again, it could prove to be very beneficial. I'd give it a shot and see how the rest of your list holds up.

    Thanks guys, for your posts.

Indeed, I'll grab a pod for the HH as I'm used to placing them on my devilfish.

Thank you, LN, you have a point there. I'll look into more FWs/Kroot or maybe another crisis.

Ok, folks, here are the improved lists ( by suggestion ).

    250/250 list

    -same-

    499/500 list

The HQ and elite are the same, a disruption pod is now included on the HH, there are 10 kroot (squad), and 9 FWs (team).

    750/750 list

Hq - shas'el with MP, PR, TA, HW-MT

E - shas'ui upgraded to team leader with FB, PR, TA, HW-MT

    E - 3 shas'ui ( stealth team )

    T - 10 kroot and 11 hounds

    T - 10 fire warriors with devilfish ( disruption pod )

Hs - hammerhead with railgun, 2 burst cannons, MT, DP

    So, what do you think?

*author's note - My apologizes if this is concerned a double posting.*

i like this list, but i would change one thing, make the shas'el commander a shas'o, probably by droping a few kroot hounds. Its ur list and u do need as much kroot in the squad as possible, but the extra wound and BS on the commander will pay off in the long run.

it seems like too many point to me in such a small point list to upgrade a commander to a Shas'O, I don't have the codex with me but I thought it was something like 20pts extra? BS is allway snice though but I use a targeting array for my shas'el. I like your lists thoug you might consider getting some kroot hounds in there if you have some points to spare, they are cheaper than kroot and better in CC which is difficult for Tau to cover in small points lists.

In almost every case, upgrading to a Shas'O is a bad idea. The extra stats are worthless except in close combat (usually), so there is no reason for them; you shouldn't be in combat anyway! A Shas'el with Targeting Array is just as accurate as a Shas'O and much cheaper in the long run.

    Less than 100 points for a BS5 Fireknife Shas'el! Now, that's a bargain.
