1 lord with res-orb 140
2 10 troop squads 360
3 monoliths 705
Is this legal and what do you think? its just some idea i came up with
its legal but um it says phase out all over it. looks fun tho
My Tomb Kings Project
Yeah I'm almost tempted to run something like this, just to see the other guy's face, but if they have ever played against Necrons before, or even read the codex, you'll be gone by turn 2.
Very fun, and funny but unless you're in a friendly custom mission that for whatever reason you've agreed to ignore Phase Out (I played one of those once, it was a raid on a Tomb, and since that's where they phase to...), and if you have to capture any objectives, you're in trouble.
It's nice to dream about, and by all means, try it in a friendly game, but don't expect it to be competitive (or even winning with it for that matter).
I uh...don't..really approve? just out of the general need discourage being a spammer. Your enemies will have a horrible time taking out the monoliths, however this list will rely very heavily on strong positioning on your part, keeping the opponent out of your warriors as much as possible. At the same time though you will NEED to use your warriors to win, without that extra firepower it will be far more difficult to take on opponents. Be smart with your teleportation, and keep monolith tactics in mind foremost. Baiting is your friend.
Really I'd drop one of the monoliths for some more warriors, and maybe another support unit of some sort, just to even out your forces more. As others have stated, you're going to have trouble with phase-out. The list is playable, just it will be hard to win with most days I feel. Some tactical variety can go a long way.
I figured it would be called a spam list but this is just like a "dream" list id personally never use unless i was playing with a friend. On a side note can u hide ur models behind the mono or does the skimmer rule ruin that? secondly was under the interpretation that 1 warrior squad per 500pts, or is it the initial 2 + 1 or every additional 500 pts? Hmm... would 3 be overkill/spamming in a 1500pt match where i added more warriors?
True Line of Sight will keep most enemies form shooting your warriors behind the monolith completely, the silly skimmer rules are gone.
3 warrior squads in 1.5k is fine, and it wouldn't hurt in 1.2k either. I started using that number recently, it is very helpful in 5ed. Close combat has become very unkind to Necrons, so more warriors means less phasing out. (also it's not like they're bad at anything else).
What are you going to do all these monoliths???????
I'd rather put 4 destroyers and 2 warriors instead the 1 of them.
What would be pretty funny to do (and by funny, i mean only to you, your opponenet would be quite frusterated) is move your Monoliths in a tight line with your Warriors following right behind it, get them within Particle Whip range and start firing. Since they are so hard to destroy, your opponent will then be forced to move around the "wall" to phase you out and as soon as they get close to your phalanx, teleport them to the other side of the wall, rinse and repeat.
Generally I wouldn't run a list like this, but it's worth a laugh at least once.
