This is my 1500 point list and i have been wondering whether or not to stick a 'lith in. Planning to use it as refused flank. Please help.
Forgot to mention that the total points are 1492
Hey Dragon Du999, Welcome to LO, and welcome to the Necron Tomb!
A workable list. However it could do with some tweaks.
Destroyers work in squads of 5, however I find they work better in two squads of 3.
Are the wraiths treating you well?? I have trouble with small numbers of them, they just don't work so effectively. I'd say 2x2 at least (preferably 2x3) or none.
Warriors are strong. 3x10 is a nice way to field them.
On Lords I prefer not having the warscythe, as the staff of light is perfect for shredding marines. (and anything less durable) also you can Veil and then shoot if you don't have the scythe.
Heavy destroyers, or wraiths, currently wraiths are really a good tank killing unit these days. So one or the other. Heavy destroyers are tougher, and don't need to be close, however they aren't always as hard hitting. (far fewer attacks) up to you.
Oh, and it is customary for me to tell you to use tomb spyder. Because they rock.
Curse you Alzer, that's almost exactly what I would have said, (but you added points I didn't notice).
So I'll just expand on a few things instead.
The reason to take Spyders is so that if your phalanx gets split up late game (which almost always happens to me as they peel off to take objectives) they can provide an important link, bridging units so they don't loose WBB because of a unit wipe (which I'm terrified of)
Oh and they're Monsterous Creatures, so why not?
Also if you decide to stick with 2 HDs, I like fielding them as a single unit so they can still take WBBs if they are too far apart, and the idea of being able to split shots is very rarely worth it with the one die they each throw in my opinion.
Changes I'd make:
Return to the Staff of Light as Alzer said
Drop the wraiths (too squishy in my opinion to only take 2)
Make it 2x3 destroyers
50 Points left
Now there are choices to make:
Another destroyer for one unit of 4 and one of 3
Try and fit a Tomb Spyder (or two) probably by dropping an immortal (or two), but you'll be over by 4 or 5 points in the best ways of doing it.
Get a 3rd HD (dropping a immortal again) if you're expecting a IG tank rush or 'nidzilla list and need the firepower.
Of these options (based upon loosing wraiths, keeping HDs, everything changes if its the other way around) I like the 7 destroyer one best (cause destros roxor my socks) and it has less wasted points/going over crap
i agree with both of them, drop the wraiths and get 2x3 destroyers and drop scythe to get 1 more HD....
unless you plan on playing against a tyranid army or an army that doesnt have many tanks then id have to say drop the HDs and go 3x2 wraiths. but no matter what you still have to find a way to add 1 more destroyer, but dont get less destroyers, you always need them in a necron list.
umm also i dont like the tomb spyder idea, destroyers are much better and more flexible.
i would like to add that you HAVE to drop one of the lord's wargear, your only aloud 100 points of wargear, and with vod, orb and scythe you got 110 points of wargear..

Scythe doesn't count towards "wargear" it's a upgrade on top
ah ok thanks for correction
