Welcome to Librarium Online!
hello,i started necrons few weeks ago and here is the list i came up with(it's not like it was hard considering how "many" unit choices there are for necrons).so,here it goes:
necron lord:rez orb,phylactery,phase shifter,warscythe-195pts.
2x5 scarabs swarms:disruption fields-160pts.
this brings it to about 1840pts.(if my math is right).potential critique is most welcomed.so,do i have chance with this one?oh sorry if my english is not good enough,it is not my native language.
Looks good, but a few things could be better.
Your Lord has a lot of gear that he doesn't need, and the points could be better spent elsewhere, unless you're planning on using him in a specialist way (close-combat, flying circus, ect.) it is better to take only the rez orb, and don't bother taking a warscythe, the staff of light is better unless you're going for close combat as I said above.
Make your scarabs into 1 unit of 10, 2 smaller ones will die too fast, and unless you know you're fighting a very vehicle heavy enemy (I'm looking at you Guardsmen), don't bother with the disruptor fields either.
After dropping the things above, you'll have enough points to get another destroyer, and split them up into 2 units of 3, the added flexibility is worth it.
Good luck! I hope you'll learn to love Necrons as much as the rest of us.
i think you should first pick a better point bracket, with the models you have you could make a pretty deadly 1500 point list, then from there experiment with your models, its the only way to learn with necrons.
so for 1500 points heres my advice, youll need 3 groups of 10 warriors, your orb lord, two groups of 3 destroyers, your 10 immortals and if you really like the monolith throw that in there. just always make sure you have enough necrons so you dont phase out, thats our only big flaw, other then that were pretty resistant against most adveseries.
Welcome to the necrons, make us proud
Welcome to LO Baneblade45, and welcome to the Necron Tomb!
The lord is a little gear heavy, I'll agree with the others on this. I'd drop the warscythe, phylactery and then try to squeeze in two more immortals, splitting them into two squads of 6.
thanks for the inputs so far,i will revise my list asap, but to do that i have couple of questions:
1)wraiths are they worth it?i have 3,and i was thinking on making destroyer lord, and rolling him up with them
2)i have 10 flayed ones, they are the cooles looking necron unit imao, but do they have anything apart form the looks?they look good on paper, but i don't trust in theory
3)some people i talked to where suggesting 2 monoliths,i have one,is the second one really nesesery?
4)why are teams of 5 destroyers not good?
perhaps a bit stupid questions, but like i sad i am total necron noob.
1) cool idea, might work
2) flayed ones are pretty awsome if you know how to use it
3) you dont need 2 monoliths, waist of money in my opinion
4) because they cant just target one unit and eliminate it, also makes them more versatile
A unit of 3 wraiths and a properly tooled lord can be a nightmare for your enemy, especially if they aren't prepared for a lot of CC
Flayed ones really are awesome, especially when you infiltrate them up right into the other guy's squishy units, but in my opinion other army's dedicated CC units can sometimes eat them up by throwing buckets of attack dice at you. Again, I'd say they work best against shooty armies, and bench them if you're fighting assault heavy armies.
A second monolith is up to you, there are some situations where it's very worth it, but usually not until the very big 2000-2500 points lists. You don't have to buy one if you don't want, as in many situations and lists 1500 points and below, you'll never really need one, but as your collection grows and you can start thinking about playing huge games, it'll probably be worth it.
As for destroyers, teams of 5 are good, as you can pretty much ensure whatever you're shooting at will be dead, but unless you're running out of Fast Attack slots (which happens all the time) 2 units of 3 are simply better, because they can seriously mess up 2 units, and also focus it all into one unit just like the single big team.
One unit of 5 is great, but 2 units of 3 is better still, so it's almost always worth finding the points for another destroyer.
And don't worry about the questions, we all have to learn somehow, and this way you get all the answers without having to get humiliated on the game table like I did before I learned how to play Necrons effectively
ok here is another list, monolith free.note:lord rides with wraiths
lord:destroyer body,warscythe,rez orb,phase shifter 210 pts.
immortals x 10 280 pts.
3x10 warriors 540 pts.
2x3 destroyers 300pts.
wraiths x 3 123 pts.
this is 1453 pts. i have no idea what to do with remaining 47 pts.so,what say you?
Thats more like it, a very strong list, nice work.
As for the last 47 points, I'm not sure, You'll have to check with someone that has tried it, but 2x2 wraiths might work well, other than that, you'll have to get some random warriors, or a tiny and useless unit of scarabs, something like that to eat up the points. If none of these work, you'll have to take away things, like one immortal maybe, so you can put in something bigger (tomb spyder? not sure)
If the 2x2 wraiths work, that'll be your best bet I think, other than the loose points, great list!
Of course he cant put 2X2 wraiths in there, because of the destroyers.
I'm not really a fan of having only one single squad of wraiths. A thumb rule is to always hav at least two squads of a necron unit. But, otherwise it seems like a good list.
IMHO, drop the wraiths or the destroyers and buy more of the one you choose to keep.
Or, get another immortal and another warrior. 46 pts
