I've got a nice tyranid army but I just can't get a strong army list
I'm getting beaten again and again by my friend
Here's what I've got
2 warriors with scyths and rend claws
2 warriors with scyths and devourers
1 warrior with venom cannon
1 warrior with deathspitter
28 gaunts with fleshborers
16 gaunts with spinefists
5 ripper swarms
can someone makew a strong army list with this or tell me what i really need to buy
First off, how many points are we talking here?
Secondly, I don't have a codex in front of me, so I'll do the best I can without one.
I'd make your Hive Tyrant with wings and twin scything talons. You could pop on some other biomorphs like extended carapace or toxin sacs to make him stronger and more viable.
Give your broodlord feeder tendrils and extended carapace, along with a retinue (I max his retinue out). You can have this boy come in behind enemy lines and do one of two things: 1) Kill a lot of armor 2) At least distract the enemy from your other boys.
I'd buy another pack of genestealers and field them all in two or three broods...feeder tendrils are awesome, cheap biomorphs. You could go with scything talons if you have the extra points.
Bring your gaunts with fleshborers in two broods, your spinegaunts in one brood, and, if you have an extra slot, your rippers as tarpit units.
I don't use warriors at all, so it's your choice if you want to bring them.
As for the carnifexes, you've got some close combat power, so now you can have some ranged action! I'd make one a sniperfex with venom cannon, barbed strangler, and enhanced senses. Your second can have two twin linked devourers and enhanced senses (if you're playing over 1,500 points, you can field him as an elite choice).
If you want to get more heavy support, try for some zoanthropes, which run around 20 bucks a pop.
This should give you an idea of what to build. As for play style, that just takes experience.
Applaud, my friend, the Comedy is finished.
Hive Fleet Charybdis (1-0-0) and Grey Brothers Space Wolf Chapter (3-1-2) [W-L-T]
thanks alot I was actually thinking around 1500pts
but with this advice i can make one of my own
just a quick comment to mention that you can't take extended carapace with wings. for your tyrant Warp Field would be the only option, but a fairly popular one at that
to better address the problem I have a few questions:
1) How many people and/or friends are in your usual rotation of challenges?
2) based on question one which armies give you the most trouble.
I play alot against deamonhunters and Chaos
the deamonhunter army is around 1500 pts and counts only 35 men but three inquisitors
the chaos army varies all the times but my friend uses alot of nurgle marines
the chaos army is the biggest problem
Deamonhunters player: designed primarily aoe based or is it a shoot the big ones army?
To deal with he chaos our army is usually at a disadvantage with a hybrid lineup vs them, your best bet will be to go all CC with a Zilla list 4 MC's at 1500 or to go heavy shooty against them, 3 BS Carnifexes and alotta dakka Warriors with a 2x TL Dev Tyrant, backed up with a few small squads of WON gaunts and maybe 1-2 squads of genes to infiltrate.
PS. i know your current unit listing would allow either of these two options but these tactics do work, all listed not just my own, and at very least another fexx would do you well
