Ok I just started playing again and bought/traded for a bunch of eldar, I played them back in 2nd edition. The following is based off of what I have not what I would like. Any help is very appreceated as as advice on what to add to get to 2000pts.
-Striking Scorpions x6
-Fire Dragons x5
-Dire Avengers x10
-Dark Reaper x5
As a matter of fact you need at least 1 more serpent (for the fire dragons). The list should be tooled a little more :vyper is way too expensive, walker with bright lance at bs 3 is a nonono
Hight elf and Craftworld Eldar army project pics heavy: linky
Fire Dragons really need a transport of some type, since you have a small group you could use a Falcon if you get one, otherwise you need a Serpent for them.
I'd skip the Warlock for the Guardian Defenders, there is little chance he will be able to do any good with any ability. Although if you play with virtually no terrain you can keep him, otherwise they will almost always have 4+ cover anyhow. Also I suggest dropping the Starcannon, there are better choices for just about everything, Scatters are my personal preference right now. The reasons for this is that even against MEQ's where Starcannons are sweet you will probably end up just lowering his save from 3+ to 4+ (cover) and then you will really miss the two extra shots the Scatters put out, and it will also save you some points.
A bright lance on a Vyper is ok, although I wouldn't field a Vyper at all right now, they cost too much. But since you already have one I would suggest replacing the weapon with E.M.L. or Scatter Laser.
War Walkers are at their best when fielding two weapons of the same type, that way you won't have to waste half your volley depending on what you fire at. In other words, if you want it anti-tank make give it 2 anti tank weapons, and so on. I suggest E.M.L's or Scatters on it, these work well with BS3, Bright Lances are a bit too pricey for BS3 in my opinion.
You can also drop the Singing Spear from your Farseer, I'd probably replace Mind War with Fortune for your Scorpions, you will make a lot of people very sad with double 3+ saves. Then again that would mean keeping him close to your Scorps, if not I'd suggest making him a basic Doomseer and saving those points as mind war rarely does much good.
Maugan Ra has a pretty awesome model, but I don't think he is worth his points in any game of 40k.
Thanks for the advice, I will look through the box of bits that came with the stuff and see what I can do. Like I said that is ALL I have right now. How about advice on what to add to get to 2000pts? so far drop the viper, and maybe the walker. Add another transport, and what else?
There is a sprue with heavy weapons available from GW, I doubt you'll find it in many other places though, but it never hurts to ask your local store or check with a webshop if you prefer some other vendor than GW. This is nice if you want to be able to switch weapons on your vehicles, also I suggest buying small high strength magnets to use for attaching these weapons so you can easily change what you want in your list depending on your opponent.
For a 2000p list I'd suggest adding one-three Fire Prisms, a second Farseer (possibly Eldrad), two Wave Serpents and another group of Dire Avengers. I'd also strongly consider a group of Rangers/Pathfinders for another troop choice. Sadly my suggestions mean you'd be trading units and not just adding things, but if I had what you have and the money for it this is what I'd buy. I'd also like to warmly recommend a full group of Howling Banshees, also in their own Wave Serpent.
Mind war, singing spear from farseer
Stalker from scorpions
Tank hunters from dragons
Defend from DA
Star cannons and conceal from guardians
Bright lance from vyper
Bright lance and star cannons from war walker
Guide or fortune to farseer
Scatter laser to guardians and embolden
EML, Scatter laser or s cannon to vyper
2 scatter lasers to war walker
As for new models:
at least 1 more war walker.
Wave serpeant to fire dragons
Spirit stones to all wave serpeants
If you are going to use a vyper, maybe add another.
Id consider dropping maugen ra for another farseer.
something along the lines of putting a guide/doom seer with the DAs
then get another doomseer and put them with 6 banshees in a wave serpeant.
I dont have my codex so i cant add up the points.
Eldar -APOC- 6500 Points
Chaos Daemons -Fate Crusher- 3500 Points
Grey knights - 1000 Points
