This is my first army list so I am not certain on how to present my army list. It is as follows:
1x Farseer with Mind War and Runes of Witnessing - 85 points
1x Guardian Squad (10 Guardians) with a Heavy Weapon in the Missile Launcher form - 100 points
1x Dire Avenger Squad (10 Avengers) with Exarch with 2 Shuriken Catapults and Bladestorm - 152 points
1x War Walker with 2 Scatter Lasers - 60 points
1x Wave Serpent with Scatter Lasers and Spirit Stones - 125 points
1x Fire Dragons squad (5 Fire Dragons) with Exarch with Fire Pike and Tank Hunters - 115 points
1x Howling Banshees squad (5 Banshees) with Exarch with Mirrorswords and War Shout - 107 points
I was thinking that I could use Guardians to guard Objectives. The Fire Dragons could target Tanks and Heavy Weapons. The Dire Avengers could be mounted in the Wave Serpent and quickly occupy objectives. Howling Banshees could combat the main enemy host with the Far Seer as a support, along with fire from other squads. The War Walker and maybe also Wave Serpent could alsoattack ordinary troops.
As I said earlier, I am not sure I have done this correctly. I would be greatfull for any comments, tips or advice on my tactics, presentation or army troops.
yeah you pretty much did it right! there really isn't a set in stone way. A lot of people would present your list like this:
Farseer w/ RoWit and Mind War
10x Guardians w/ EML
10x DA w/ Exarch, Bladestorm and Exarch Catapult
Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Laser and Spirit Stones (for Avengers)
5x Fire Dragons w/ Exarch, Firepike, Tank Hunter
5x Howling Banshees w/ Exarch, Mirrorswords, War Shout
1 War Walker w/ 2 Scatter Lasers
Of course, that's just a common way! Yours is fine, I could read it just perfectly.
It's not a bad list at all for 750, it looks pretty good. I would take Doom instead of mind war. in such small games, doom is really advantageous, especially when you're facing MEQs and elite armies with fewer squads. A doomed unit that is bladestormed is almost definitely going down. in such small games, you can pretty much try to decimate whatever unit you doomed and it works effectively. RoW are a luxury, not totally needed but it's nice, if you can afford it it's your preference for sure.
Keep the Avengers with the serpent, it's a good strategy with the bladestorm ability (you load back into the serpent next turn)
Everything else looks good. That war walker should use it's Scouts ability, keep it out of harms way and then use your extra move to move it out provided you get the first turn. It's super fragile but it's 8 str 6 shots should come in handy if you can keep him 36" from harm he should be most effective. last thing you want is just a full squad of X within 24" or less of him, he's gone. of course your opponent will probably have a big gun or two, or more, so he's pretty much not safe anyway.
Your elites are small and expensive, most people wouldn't bother with the fire dragon exarch + those powers in such a small game. I think if you can, drop what you need to and get a serpent for them as well. it may mean the banshees or the walker + the exarch/tank hunter ability. 5 dragons with such powerful guns should pop whatever you need to pop at such a small point game. in a wave serpent they can pretty much guaranteed do their job.
Take doom instead of mind war. I wuld drop ROW for a game this low.
Banshees and firedragons arnt going to make it down the battlefield. Banshees exarch power acrobatic is alot better than war shout in my opinion. For the dragons I wouldnt take tank hunters...to many points in a small game.
Id probably take scorpions and infiltrate for a game where you cant get a transport for your banshees.
Eldar -APOC- 6500 Points
Chaos Daemons -Fate Crusher- 3500 Points
Grey knights - 1000 Points
