Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm just looking for any last minute tweaks that might give me the extra umph I need to win in the semis (free 2500 point army would be nice...).
Heres the List I used in the prelim:
Archon – punisher, tormentor helm, combat drugs, shadow field, plasma grenades, animus vitae, trophy rack (rides with a wyche squad)
Dracite – agonizer, plasma grenades
7 wyche retinue – succubus w/agonizer, w.w., plasma grenades, x2 blasters. Goblet of spite
Raider – nightshields, horrofex, torture amp
3x 8 Wyches - succubus w/agonizer, w.w., plasma grenades x2 blasters
Raider – nightshields, horrofex, torture amp
3x 7 warriors – sybarite w/poison blades, terrofex, blaster, splinter cannon
Raider – nightshields, horrofex
2x 5 warriors – dark lance
Raider– nightshields, horrofex
10 warriors – 2 dark lances
3x Ravagers – x3 disintegrators, nightshields
Don't hold your breath for comments - your list is solid and you are quite the experienced player! I personally like the list except a little thing here and there. I remember suggesting stuff before but you continue to prove me wrong and find that your choices were the better pick.
A good example - I do not like nightshields but I remember last year's 'Ard boyz they ended up being undeniably essential.
I also do not like 3 ravagers with 3 disintegrators each - I think one of them should be a 3-lance version but I am sure you have proven that wrong as well.
Perhaps its a mixture of style and experience that decides those "fringe" decisions like taking torture amps (another I think I disliked last year but somehow got them to work for you) or giving your Dracite a retinue instead of running a separate wych squad (I like my Dracite to be free of having to stay with the same squad).
Then, it occured to me - perhaps you're just a you are a better player than I and that kind of explains a lot.
Good luck with your tourny and I hope you go farther in the 2nd round than you did last year!!!
"On a hunch, I melted them down and inhaled the fumes and read the dark eldar codex again, AND FOUND A BUNCH OF NEW RULES HIDDEN BEHIND THE OTHER WORDS..." [Gardeth on modelling & interpreting the DE Codex]
You trying to give me a big head?! lol
I am really happy with the list but I know first hand that there is always room for improvement and that the new ideas often come from strange sources. Case in point, adding the torture amps was a last minute decision suggested by a brand new player. It gives me a way to contest an objective on the last turn when it is covered by a big unit spread out in every direction (making it impossible to get within 3 inches of objective or pull them off with cc). It has worked great 1 or twice and thats enough for me, and in other situations its a great way to force spread out units to bunch up for death by dissie.
So if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
looks exactly like something I would take, of course I have been inspired by the best HEHE.
Im not a fan of the 2 lance warrior squad. And I am not a fan of the sybarite upgrades. But I do love the rest of the list.
A list for me at such high point cost would include: Dracon and Incubi... Vect, 3 wych squads, 6 raider squads 3 ravagers...
The ten man foot squad has 2 main functions:
1. Objective babysitting. Which they do quite well
2. Bait. Holy hell, when everything else in the army is on a fast skimmer, people will go to great lengths to engage the only thing that can't move 24". I have had people go all out to get these guys before, only to be left high and dry after they kill them.
As for the sybarite upgrades, the poison blades is so that maybe they can hurt something before dying and the terrofexes help spam pinning along with the raider horrofexes. Which is priceless against new guard.
Not a fan of Ngiht shields on none static raiders, for my money the agonisers on the sybarites are better and is its pretty much a straight choice in this list I would hav chosen the other way.
I'd definelty split the dracite form the wyches, whilst this makes it a bit of a pain for being targetted in CC I find the utility of detaching to be greater than the ability to avoid being picked out, again a toss up though.
Other than that its pretty much the same as my lists, tweaked fro someone elses seasonings. Nice list and apart fromt eh two things above the only changes I'd make are entirely down to playstyle preference.
In my experience its up close that nightshields really shine, saving me from rapid fire weapons and, more importantly, the massive number of melta weapons people are packing these days. I would be packing agonizers on the sybrites but points (actually may try and find a way to make them fit still), and as for the dracite, if I split her off then that is one less wyche squad I can take (her retinue is the 4th).
Ahh on the dracite, I failed to count and for that I apologise . Its all gravy with 4. Still prefer the agonisers to the nightshields and I can't see anywhere else you could shave poitns, except dropping the Archon to a Dracon, which is a maybe.
Well, in the first round of 'Ard Boyz the raider squads only made 1 assault and that was a tandem assault with the dracite and retinue. Conversely, they were many instances each game where a raider was out of range due to the nightshields (its REALLY hard to get embarked guardsmen in melta range). I was considering dropping a guy from each of the raider squads to make room, but the 2nd mission of the Semi's makes me wonder if I shouldn't drop the sybrites all together to get a few more men in the small squads...
