-Warscythe, Destroyer body, Phase shifter
10 Necron Warriors
10 Necron Warriors
Phase out: 8
I used to do great with this list, but the other day I played my necron army for the first time in a few months and it did really bad for me. Maybe it's because I had terrible luck, or maybe I was just rusty with 'crons. Either way, I really appreciate any advice here.
Necrons have really had to crank up on troops recently. This is largely caused by the changes to objectives and troops in 5ed, and also by the ease with which Necron warriors can be wiped out in CC. Wraiths are kinda meh in a single squad, I always split them into two squads. Monolith and Deceiver are also a bit of a tough mix, as it dumps a full 1/3 of your points out of units that will raise your phase out (though Monolith/Deceiver are still capable of protecting you from phase out by being fire magnets)
At 1.5k I also tend to only use one HQ as they tend to eat up loads of points to field. I'd decide between the two before you move on.
Destroyers are set up well.
If you do decide to use the C'tan and monolith, work on positioning, the Deceiver is a great spearhead, while the monolith is perhaps better in the middle/back of your formation
Welcome back to Necrons by the way! and apparently back to LO as well.
What your army needs is fire power not more useless troops who won't do anything but get totally wiped out in close combat.
My suggestion is ditch the lord and ditch the wraiths, and get a extra 5-6 destroyers!.
Well I'd opt for a happy medium. I agree your Wraiths are only sub par and easy to deny WBB, however I do agree LOTS of destroys is AWSOME, especially since more numbers is harder to deny WBB. I run 10 destroyers personally...and know lists of 15 destroyers are just devastating!

Yeah warriors ARE easy to cut down with sweeping advance, meaning, in an objectives match you need more otherwise all your troops will get wiped out and you'll no longer be able to score. Massed firepower isn't always a legitimate cure for this problem either. Especially against armies with better saves and special abilities, say Grey Knights. Or those fast enough to get into your lines before you shoot, I've had problems with Dark Eldar personally in that regard. *Shakes a fist at Svalene*
Destroyer-wing is definitely an effective way to play, but it's more of a competitive list opposed to a friendly one, so it would depend on what sort of game you're playing. Having an over-powerful list against a friendly opponent may discourage them from playing you.
FarmDog, there's no reason to call me out on this, if your opinion differs just state your suggestion, give some good back up to it, and don't start pointless trouble.

Similar to my own 1500 list (I have 3 x Warriors, 3 x Destroyers and Scarabs instead of Wraiths). While comments above are all good, I'm going to chime in and recommend you get a few more Necron models, be that either Immortals or Warriors. Warriors, I think would be best. Objective games count for 2/3 for 40k games these days.
