Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, for some time ago I posted various Iyanden lists and I have finally come to a conclusive list, and have now started buying and building the army.
Well here is the list along with some foughts on tactic.
Farseer, singing spear, fortune. - nice cheap HQ and with fortune reallt boost the survivebility of the wraithguards.
8 striking scopions, exarch w. scopions claw, shadow stalker. - the only, and much needed close combat dedicated unit in the list. They are great for tarpiding and keeping the wraithguards out of CC, they also provide a whole lot s4 attacks which works great against horde oriented armies which the wraiths themself dont faire to well against. Finally they can infiltrate/outflank which means I can get close to static gunline armies fast without getting shot down as I walk across the field.
7 wraithguards, spiritseer w. conceal. - Its Iyanden, they tought and work great against tanks, elite infantry and monstrous creatures.
10 wraithguard, spiritseer w. conceal. - they are mandatory!
10 guardians, scatter laser. cheap troop choice preferebly placed in cover/holding objectives. They also provide some great deffense against horde type armies that this army generally lack.
3 jetbikes. - another cheap troop choice which also happens to have some speed the rest of the army do not, which can be used for last minute claiming/contesting.
Wraithlord, scatter laser, wraithsword, 2 flamers. - provide some good long range fire, flamer and sword also makes a good counter charge unit
Wraithlord, scatter laser, wraithsword, 2 flamers. - same as above.
Wraithlord, bright lance, eldar missile launcher, 2 flamers. same as above, but better against high armour.
Total 1500 pts.
I think the army list stays pretty true to the Iyanden fluff containing this high amount of wraith constructs, But at the same time can be played to an effective extent.
But thats just my thoughts on the list, what do you think of it? critic, changes, any good ideas.
THe only suggestion I have to is to get rid of the spear, if he is going with the wrathlords.
If he is going with the wrathguard then the spear is fine, since you will undoubtly be shooting alot, although you may find that the extra dice is actually worth it when your wrathguard get assaulted.
Ive found that stalker is necessary for scorps too. But I dont see how you could fit it.
Eldar -APOC- 6500 Points
Chaos Daemons -Fate Crusher- 3500 Points
Grey knights - 1000 Points
I'm tempted to say drop a couple of wraithguard from the smaller group and get a transport for them. would give the list a bit more speed without going to far from its roots.
droping the spear might be an idea, but I dont know why you think i cant fit stalker in there. I might have made a miscalculating but I get the entire list to be an even 1500...
I have thought of using a wave serpent transport for one unit, but personally I think a transport is wasting the their high toughtness and good save. Furthermore you can only transport 5 along with a psycker.
True, but if you think about it, you're not really losing out on much. The transport will protect your wraithguard and provide them with something they lack, Mobility.
There are a lot of AP 3 weapons out there, so the last thing you want is to lose your wraithguard to some lucky AP3 shots, or unlucky rolls on bolter fire. The difference between 5 wraithgun and 7 wraithgun shots in almost non-existent, really, but you'll gain a HUGE advantage being able to put them down wherever you want.
Its very true what your saying, but I would have to cut down other places in the list to buy a wave serpent, and the conceal helps against those AP3 shots. But you might be right, its somthing I need to play test...
