    1500pt Mek Army

    Hi there everybody. I recently bought the "Assault on Black Reach" starter set. And of course I'm playing the Orks side. Well Along with that I purchased the Codex and was instantly taken by the Big Mek Army idea. Now what I'm wondering is if the Big Mek Army listed in the codex is actually decent. For those of you that don't have your codex handy don't worry about replying to this then, I'd type it out, but I'm not sure if that would go against the forum rules.

    But basically I wanted to learn if it was a feasible army composition.

    If it is sorta balanced in the aspects of Anti-tanks, shootiness, and if it is going to be difficult reaching the frontlines.

    The only reason Im not using my own creative genius right now for this army list is because I actually think this Big Mek Army list in the Codex is pretty well put together.

    But Hey, I'm here for some experienced assistance. If you have an opinion about the walkers or the rest of the army, by all means, put your input in.

    It will be greatly appreciated.

    Big Mek Army

    The Big Mek army is a starter army but pulls between different effective armies. The SAG is good but the kustom mega blaster is less underwhelming. Try to keep the Lootas in even groups of 9 or more with meks to fill in where models lack.

    If boys are going to walk they need to have 20+ and Nob-Powerklaw, bosspole. any less and you will be wasting the Mob Rule rule (sic)

    Deffkoptas in a group of 2 tend to flee in games over 1000. Turbo scouters however are fun and annoying.

    Killa kans are amazing with grotzookas, (also very mekky). I have not had much success with DeffDreads so try at your own peril. All the Zap guns are amazing for their points but if you use more then one gun please fill up the grot krew.



    I will make up a New Big Mek army and post it shortly.

    I tried to keep all the fun aspects of the BMA while allowing you to be competitive. Keep the SAG in a unit of grots, perhaps on an objective. The KFF mek can stay with your gunline, allowing for the lootas, zap guns and SAG to enjoy the shade of a 5+ cover save. Otherwise march him with the boys in hopes of giving the frontline a 5+ coversave and the gunline a 4+ coversave. Deffkoptas need to turbo scout and attempt to knock out a unit and tie up another one turn one. The only problem I foresee is the SM Landraiders and other heavy armor. Goodluck and have fun.

    So you haven't had much luck with deff. dreads eh?
    Any particular reason?
    Just not very useful, or is it just one of those things that it looks like it would help more than it actually does?

    Is it pushing it to throw in 2 more killa kans as well?

    The Deffdreads cost more and even though they are troops in his case they can not capture objectives. They can hold more guns then killa kans but they suffer the Orky BS 2. Also they can not hold grotzookas or travel in packs.

    your list looks fine, maybe even move one of the lootas and make a 7 and a 9 so that the nine can take a third death before the needed moral check.

    Yea i read nothing but really bad reviews about the Deff dread. Mynameisgrox is a reliable source and he started this thread completely dedicated to helping out nooby orkz playerz such as myself. He explained how the deff dread isn't exactly 'cost effective' and with the points you'd end up spending to take a deff dread at its absolute cheapest you could have already had two Killa' Kans.

    Its not like the deff dread can capture/score objectives anywayz as you mentioned. So its not realiable in that aspect. And Its also a Bullet sponge! Most likely one of the first things to get knocked off the battlefield before it can actually earn its points back.

    So I thought to myself.."Well less money I have to spend on one model".

    Plus I absolutely love the killa kans!
