Welcome to Librarium Online!
This is my first post to LO. I have recently returned to 40k from an extended hiatus. This time around I am interested in playing my orks in tournaments. My local mostly runs 2000 point tourneys so I have put together the following list. I would appreciate any and all feedback. This list is not particularly unique but not being as familiar with 5th ed. I figured I would stay safe until I am comfortable and then try to work in a little theme.
-Kustom Force Field
-Power Klaw (x3)
-Waagh! Banner (x1)
Trukk (for Nobz)
Boyz (Shoota) (x30)
-Big Shootas (x3)
Boyz (choppa/Slugga) (x30)
Boyz (choppa/Slugga) (x30)
Mega Nobz (x6)
-Kombi Shoota-skorcha (x2)
Trukk (for Mega Nobz)
Deff Kopptas (x5)
-Twin-linked Rokkit launcha(x5)
Grand Total: 2000 Points
I am worried about the mobz foot sloggin' their way across the battlefield. The Big mek will take care of one unit but should I use a gretchin mob or two to help screen the others? I have also considered going with 3 Kanz (and less boyz) to help draw some fire. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks
Hey Matt, sorry I didn't see your list, I'm usually good at replying to empty threads. Let's see if I can help you out.
I'd run this guy with at least a Cybork Body. He can be picked out in CC so the Invuln pays for itself many times. Eavy Armor isn't bad either, especially against things that lack power weapons.
Your Big Mekk would be nice with a Burna, he can take it with his KFF. Flamer or Power Weapon in CC, a very nice gun for him all around.
Very risky with those Nobz in a Trukk. They can get where they're going but a Battlewagon makes me feel safer. I'd think about upgrading, especially because you are mostly on foot so your armor is easier to pick out. Also drop a few PKs, you can beat I3 units on the charge with just Choppas or Big Choppas. About half and half is good and it'll save points.
I'd run all your mobs like your first one, 30 deep, all Shootas with 3 guns and the Nob set up right. Shootas outperform Slugga Boyz everytime when you consider the shots before charging and the ability to shoot while advancing/holding an objective.
Again, a Battlewagon would do nicely here. 2 Wagons is a formidable armored wall and with your Mekk they have mobile cover which STILL extends to your foot sloggers. Their set up is good.
Lootas are fantastic as they are.
I might drop these to pay for the Wagons. They're good, don't get me wrong but the Wagons keep your scary units safe and do a lot of damage, plus they deliver your PKs to bust armor. Keep them as they are if you don't drop them.
Overall I like the list but with 2 Wagons it'd be very very strong. A wagon with Grot Riggers, 1 Big Shoota and a Deff Rolla is only 120 points and worth every one. You can also add Armor Plates or Stikk Bomb Chuckas if you'd like. Good luck :]
Thanks Prince! I am going to go with your suggestion for the wagons for sure. So you would suggest doing away with the slugga/choppa boys and replace them with strictly shoota boys? Do they loose much in cc compared to slugga/choppas? Also, I would appreciate some suggestions to get this down to 1500 points.
I'm of the school of thought Shoota Boyz always outperform Slugga Boyz. They may do slightly less damage on the charge, they get an additional S4 shot but one less S4 attack. The odds are very close, they both wound the same and the shot hits on a 5 where the swing usually hits on a 4, sometimes 3. It's made up for by the additional gun range though, in the grand scheme of a game.
To drop to 1500 I'd drop the regular Nob unit and their Battlewagon. Should almost do it.
