Welcome to Librarium Online!
So today I played my first game of Warhammer and enjoyed myself immensely. I'm still learning but my oppenent said I have a decent grasp of the rules and tactics. This is the list that I fielded today.
HQ Necron Lord
HQ Necron Lord
8xScarabs(With the Destroyer Lord)
As I said I'm pretty new so I'm not really sure what short-comings there are with the list; but I do know that I wanted more Destroyers and the Scarabs did a great job of tarpitting his HQ and stopping it from teleporting around and killing my Res Orb. The phylactery is just there as a points sink for the last few. The game ended up tieing with him having 2 dreadnoughts, a immobilized landraider with only 1 flamer left, 12 space marines and a speeder or something with a team of snipers in it. I had a monolith, 16 warriors, 4 scarabs, and my foot lord.
A solid list.
Personally i swear by warscythes for my Lords but i assume your foot lord will be hanging with his warriors so thats alright.
The only thing I can see is i doesn't have much in the way of counter cc, the only cc squad you have is the Dlord and scarabs. The scarabs could possibly get decimated with a lucky template shot ( if the opponent knows what there doing), and the lord would probably soon follow. This leaves you short of metallic muscle in cc.
I reckon that you could lose the lord and invest in some flayed ones, or wraiths but leave the scarabs its a good unit against infantry, especially on the charge.
And if you have any points left maybe a HD, more heavy gauss is all good.
Lucky Hats- Is there anything they can't do?
Personally I'd put lightening field on the D-lord instead of the phlactery on your foot lord and his warscythe. Those extra staff shots are wonderful against space marines, as is his S5 power weapon. Also this way even when he kills your scarabs, it's hurting him back (granted it's not as effective against space marines. Overall scarabs aren't fantastic against marines, but they can tarpit for a good long while as long as there's no powerfist.
Two lords...still not big on that, lots of points, and they're useful but not as powerful as the HQs of other races. I'd try and stick with one.
If you want to melee space marines into pudding, use a tomb spyder or 3. Lots of medium S monstrous creature hits are not good for power armor.
Alternatively it seems you're having lots of heavy armor thrown at you, and Heavy destroyers might be a good choice to deal with those. Or give scarabs d-fields and use them as tank hunters with the warscythe lord.
Sorry I haven't responded so long, my internet was a little shakey. The Scarabs actually did have D-Fields, that was a typo that they didn't. For the upcoming week I think this is the list that I'm going to field. The problem is, I have 15 spare points and I'm not sure what to do with them.

Should I cut back on the Scarab Swarms to increase the destroyer count?
good solid list, but from my experience you need some close combat stuff!, some flayed ones would be good as they can outflank and if you are lucky they can cause serious trouble. Mine did as in one battle they made space marines cock up completley... but from what i have experienced you will struggle against chaos marines as korne lords and daemon princes will have a field day in smashing up warriors wth impunity.
