As a Dark Eldar player I usually do pretty well against mech armies but the following list basically had me tabled on his second turn. Any thoughts on how to beat this list are very much welcome.
Rune Priest w/chooser, melta bomb, living lightning and murderous hurricane
Rune Priest w/chooser, melta bomb, wolf tail, living lightning and stormcaller
Rune Priest w/chooser, wolftooth necklace, living lightning and Tempest's Wrath
Rune Priest w/chooser, living lightning and JOTWW
3X Dreadnought w/ TL Lascannon and missile launcher
4X Grey hunters 5 w/ meltagun and razorback w/TL lascannon
1 runepriest went into each razorback
3X Longfangs 6 w/5 missile launchers
This is my buddies 2k list. It has 18 missile launcher shots, 7 TLlascannon shots and 4 uses of Living Lightning a turn that all outrange me even with nightshields. My only thought is to try and deepstrike my raiders and ravagers but I dont think even this will work with so many deadly targets.
Any thoughts on how to defeat this monstrosity are very welcome.
Here is a good start at beating that list
6x 10x warrior squads with 2 dark lances = 600 pts 12 lance shots.
3x Ravagers with 3 disses each = 360 pts 9 plasma plates a turn
spam the rest on wych units in raiders and 1 incubi unit with a Archon.
Make sure you hide your Ravagers first turn, fire the disses at the Longfangs,i doute they will last long once you've shot at them.
Lances go at the Armour of the tanks.
Lots of firepower, as earlier stated. I vote nightshields on everything, then try to encourage him to deploy spread out across the board. Attack along one flank to make the most of the nightshields. Spam raiders. Raiders for everything. Dark lances and shredders for everything. Ravagers get disentagrators. Haemonculi with destructors on jetbikes.
Basically, templates and heavy weapons.
Thanks for the replys.
I think I will go ahead and try the infantry heavy force.
The army I used last time had 8 raiders and 3 ravagers all with nightshields and he had all my vehicles down by the end of his second turn. Even with nightshields his lowest range was 42 inches with lascannons and missile launchers and still unlimited with living lightning.
That doesn't sound like a powergamer list...
Not sure about NightShields tbh they seem a points waste seeing as his longfangs have ML's and if he sets his guys infront 6 his going to be in range anyways...
So i did cals and it comes up to 180 points your wasteing on nightshields for that price i would probs get a extra raider and wychs seeing as you want to overload the enemy with both shooting and fire power.
Also ignore certain peoples sarcasm, when your enemy has a beardy list you've got to make one, fire on fire
All down by turn 2?
are you using your raiders as shields? You need to generate cover saves as even a well covered table is going to be quite sparse.
While there are a lot of missile launchers in that list they are really concentrated. If you can cause a few casualties it should fall apart quite quickly with each long fang squad only requiring 2 wounds to lose the first missle launcher. A single barrage from a ravager should knock out 3-5 ML's in one turn! (2 if spread out and in cover).
I don't really like saying it but this could also be a good time to start with everything in reserve... a very risky proposition, but one that could pay dividends. (I'd try with self generating cover saves first). ust remember to glue your stands to your raiders for maximum effect, a transport issue but a great ruling for us none the less)
Dear Game Developer,Caps-Lock, its like cruise-control for AWESOMENESS!
