Thinking of Eldar Jet Bikes, 1000 points

Hello, a friend and were thinking of picking out a new army to play and I've had my eye on Eldar for awhile. I was going to start something else because I knew a few people who were also going Eldar, but have since strayed away. What caught my eye for eldar was jet bikes, and I would like to give it a shot. Here's a list I've come up with and would gladly take any and all help/advice. If all goes well, I could start building soonish.

    HQ
    Farseer
Jetbike, Runes of witnessing, Spirit Stones, Singing Spear, Doom, Guide

    Fast Attack
    Shining Spears x4
    Exarch, Withdraw

    Vyper x2
    EML, Bright Lance

    Vyper x2

Well this is the list i came up with for 1500 points (well not very origional......but)

    HQ:
    Farseer
(Jetbike, Runes of Warding, Spirit Stones, Doom, Fortune)
    - Warlocks x8
(Jetbikes, Enhance, 2x destructor, 1x embolden)

    Farseer
    (Jetbike, Spirit Stones, Doom, Fortune)
    - Warlocks x8
(Jetbikes, Enhance, 2x destructor, 1x embolden)(this squad had another enhance or embolden, can't remember which....)

    Troops:
    5x Guardian jetbikes
    (Shuriken cannon)

    5x Guardian jetbikes
    (Shuriken cannon)

    5x Guardian jetbikes
    (Shuriken cannon)

I was thinking if the bike squads (Guardians) would be good enough, i thought maybe getting rid of one squad, and have a wraithlord or soemthing, maybe a couple of warwalkers......or have 3 squads of 3.....

p.s sorry thats not very helpful too you, but i don't really know about Eldar bikes my self yet......

Warlocks on bikes with a farseer that fortunes them is the $hit for eldar. All bike army or not.

Its generally good to either give you warlock a spear OR destructor. I like to give him conceal so its KINDA like they have a inv save. and of course its always best to get them in groups of 3 to get the cannon.

Vypers should generally have multi shot weapons but I give them EML in groups so you have a multi shot expensive missle shots lol.

THe spears need the star lance. They are generally expensive and not worht the points but are cool and fluffy.

Also wave serpents are your friend.
    Eldar -APOC- 6500 Points
Chaos Daemons -Fate Crusher- 3500 Points
    Grey knights - 1000 Points

add another bike to each squad so you can have the shuri-cannon. i think destructor and a spear is a good way to go, the cost of the spear is negligible and gives good anti tank power.

bright lances on BS3 units are hard to swallow, which is why people do not mine them on their waveserpents, moves your hit rate from about 50% to 75%. but i guess that is what guide is for.

over all i think you will have fun with a list like this, but will have to work very hard to win, especially against some of the "power" lists

My main army is Sisters of Battle and I love them. The main strategy is placement, target priority, and faith management, but after awhile it just feels like Step One: Move Transports forward. Step 2: ??? Step 3: Profit, though I'm sure every army feels similar after so long. Early on, I branched off into =][= by buying my friends Grey Knights, and I love them almost as much (hell, I'm in the process of making some extra rules for them), but overall it still has the feel of one thing which is Inquisition. Then I tried out Daemons and while it was fun and different, it just wasn't what I was looking for. Before I tried Daemons, I was in a debate between them and Eldar and really only chose them because a friend was supposedly starting Eldar. Daemons didn't work out like I said, and my friend has gone with his second choice so now I'm looking at Eldar and they seem promising. Jetbikes really caught my eye because they're good, different and that it's not just another Transport spam list, and lets not forget just plain cool! Needless to say right now, I'm slowly starting to wrap my brain around the basics of Eldar, but in reality I'm pretty lost still xD

ANYWAY, back to the list =P

I don't remember exactly what it was, and I don't have a codex infront of me, but I'm 90% positive my first draft Farseer was this with 3 Warlocks with Spears, 2 with Destructor and one with Enhance, but dropped it because I wasn't sure if such an expensive unit (339 IIRC, is it bad I've already memorized the points costs for most of that list?) was worth taking in a 1000 point list.

I think the Guardians were supposed to have a Cannon not a catapult, which would be a misprint on my part, though I thought they only need three for one. If that's the case, then I'll gladly boost them up to 4 Guardians and a Warlock.

Are the Spears really not good? They seem like they would be to me, used as MEQ killing/tank busting, though I could be wrong.

What is a good way to tool up Vypers and are they any good? They seem really fragile, but I've seen quite a few Jet Bike lists with them.

For the most part, transports are just boring, hence why I like the Jet Bikes, but just how viable is a Jet Bike List? What is "needed" that isn't inherently obvious (you mentioned wave serpents), though I should really ask what are the strengths and weaknesses of a Bike Army?

Looking forward to your help =D

    EDIT:

Also, what about War Walkers? They're not speedy, but I just read a few tactica with them in jet bike armies and they oddly enough seem to fit. They're not speedy, but they're a target basically.

After borwsing around, I've found that Warwalkers fit surprisingly well in jetbike lists, so I've revised my list to this.

    How's it look?

even in a jetbike list (a themed, specialist list), you've got to have the following abilities:
    1. meq/teq killing
    2. mc killing
    3. horde killing
    4. armour busting
    5. objective grabbing

currently, i am running (my group allows proxies and i'm building the list)

    Farseer - jb, fortune, spear
    7 warlocks - jbs, 2 embolden, 2 enhance, 2 destructor
Autarch - jb, mandiblasters, fusion gun, laser lance

3x 6 jetbikes, 2 cannons, warlock, embolden, singing spear

Shining spears - 5, exarch, starlance, skilled rider, withdraw

    so for my list:
    1. meq/teq killing - spears and autarch. seer council (through weight of wounds)
    2. mc killing - mainly council, but spears with star lance can do it in a pinch
    3. horde killing - destructors, focus fire from gjb squads. i'm quite weak here, so have to play very savvy against hordes, pick and choose my targets, focus fire etc. it's pretty much the sole reason for destructor in the list because i don't use the power against marines but wanted a balanced army.
    4. armour busting - bs5 fusion gun, singing spears from the gjbs, council (including bs5 singing spear), star lances
    5. objective grabbing - 3 fast moving squads who may or may not be around at the end of the game, but they should pass leadership tests quite regularly. am probably a bit light here, but can do the jetbike slide to hide for most of the game.

with your list, i think you have more horde killing ability, but less meq and teq ability (though you aren't likely to see terminators at this points level). in addition, your units are very small (though this is 1000 points, rather than 1500). your warlock unit is also a lot of points to be invested at that level and i don't think it's big enough. I'd drop the warlocks until you get to 1500 and take another gjb squad. and i'd definately swap destructor for embolden - 4 man squads need 1 casualty to take a ld test. i like your war walkers, especially with outflank, though it can be argued that if you outflank, shuricannons are a most efficient use of points.

I thought about dropping a squad of jet bikes and reinforcing the other two, possibly replacing the destructors with embolden.

If I dropped the warlocks on the Farseer, I'd imagine I'd put him with a squad of Guardians. From there would it be better to go with the Spears because I was also considering Vypers?
