5th Edition 1500 List, First Tyranid Army

    HQ
    Hive Tyrant 255
    Carapace

    Life Drain
    Nerve Shock
    Tac Insight
    HVC

    Elites
    2 Zoanthrope 120
Mycetic Spore w thorn blast 50
    2 Hive Guard 100

    Troops
    10 genestealers with glands 170
    9 genestealers with broodlord w stalons 188
12 hormagaunts with toxin sacs 96
12 hormagaunts with toxin sacs 96

    Heavy
    Trygon w Glands 210
    Trygon w Glands 210

Basic strategy was having the two trygons come up with aid of the tyrants +1 reserve roll. Genestealers outflank or come out of hole, whichever is better. Zoanthropes come down in spore and mess up tanks, while Hive Guard stay behind tyrant and shoot. Hormagaunts either come from holes or i use the tyrant ability to get one to outflank.

    Main issues:

-Ive never played a tyranid army, just starting, so I dont know if Im going to have synapse problems with this list.
    -Do I have enough anti-tank
    -Are my upgrades ok

All comments appreciated, keep in mind Ive never actually played a game with nids

three things jump out at me for this list.

1st, your 24 hormigaunts only have one synapse unit to shepherd them forward (the hive tyrant) and that one unit is going to take every las-canon, missile launcher, bright lance etc. on the board on turn 1, and likely turn 2. it either needs friends to help your synapse web, or it needs guards.

2nd the zoies and trygons should be able to rip through at least 2-3 tanks (if used that way) while the hive guard take down transports. so that shouldn't be a big issue.

3rd do you really need that second trygon? I know they're the hip new thing, and they're really pretty nasty, but what does it add to your list besides another big target (something better done by another tyrant, in my opinion)
    ~2k of genestealery goodness
    ~1750points of terminator goodness

    Dovie'andi se tovya sagain

    more witty remarks to come.

Thanks for the reply, redid my list, more swarmy now and more synapse:

    HQ
    Tyranid Alpha Warrior 95
    Deathspitter, 2 Boneswords
    Tyranid Alpha Warrior 95
    Deathspitter, 2 Boneswords

    Elites
    Venomthrope
    2 Zoanthropes
Mycetic Spore with Thorn Blast 50
    2 Hive Guard

    Troops
23 hormagaunts with toxin sacs 184
23 hormagaunts with toxin sacs 184
23 hormagaunts with toxin sacs 184
    3 Warriors, 2 Deathspitters, 1 VC 110
    3 Warriors, 2 Deathspitters, 1 VC 110

    Heavy
    Trygon with Glands 210

Hormagaunts surge forward with venomthrope in between to give cover, tyranid warriors move forward right behind with tyranid alpha warriors attached. Hive guard follow right behind. Zoanthropes come down behind tanks, trygon pops on an objective or somewhere where he is needed.
