Welcome to Librarium Online!
tournament coming up in a few weeks, thought I'd bring the new nids for S&G. Go for fun and best painted (my usual strategy, lol). But I feel this may be a decent competative buil with the new dex. What do you guys think? (I would like to know, thanks)
-heavy venom cannon
- old adversary
mycetic spore (had 40 points left over and figured, what the hell.
2X 5 warriors
- barbed strangler
2X11 gene stealers (another odd number but once again had points and figured, why not)
Thoughts? Thanks again. (the more advice I get the less I'll be tempted to use ork speed freaks.)
I like to field him as a winged hive tyrant so he has more mobility, meaning he's abigger threat. i also give him hive commander so i can bring in a squad of warriors, or a tervigon or a support squad to help[ the genestealers and bring in all my reserves alot earlier. you don't really need anything more for a Hive tyrant that wings and hive commander. the psychic pwoers leech work best as backup regeneration and the power that reduces enemy WS nad BS to 1. imagine the look on your enemies face when you make their close combat specialist squad or their devestator squad effectively useless? it's worth it for the comedy values too ^^.HQ
-heavy venom cannon
- old adversaryokElites
mycetic spore (had 40 points left over and figured, what the hell.i would try to fit in 2 squads of 2.3Xhive guardok, but are death spitters necessary? adding in a lash whip and bonesword to beat down or help the genestealers would be nice in closecombat against other MCs and things.Troops
2X 5 warriors
- barbed strangler
-death spittersI think you onyl need a squad of 8 or 9 and ahve them supported and you also need atleast another scoring unit, preferably another scoring unit. One always for objective sitting ( warriors are fine for that and the rest for contseting the middle and your opponent's side)2X11 gene stealers (another odd number but once again had points and figured, why not)
-scything talonsthey will be shot at like hell and remember that they are fleet of foot. so they can move, run and charge in the same turn. don't expect them to charge in until atleast turn 2 if they footslog. hiding behind buildings helps .Heavy support
2Xtrygon primesOk, you carnifex has the biggest shoot me sign on him, if you want to field him adding a tyranid pod would help, but i would take him off the the extra points that you keep to reinforce other parts of your army.Carnifex
Some thoughts on the army. it looks mighty small. and i would field the warriro squads in squads of 4. i field them in a squad of 3, because i usually hide them or flank them and they just support my genestealers so they don't need to be too big a squad.
Also, have you considered spore clusters? for 10 points each you can deploy them ianywhere on the table after setting down objectives and choosing table edges etc. and before you guys deploy. these guys can be used to occupy buildings and generally mess up your opponent's deployment zone and even keep them away from objectives because they don't want to be blown up to bits.
Be aware, that when they land as a squad, the automatically become inividual units and split off from each other, even though they were bought as a squad. and they do not count towards kill points and cannot become a scoring unit. they also cannot contest., but are good for preventing people from contesting objectives or hiding in the building.
The best areas to deploy them are generaelly in the middle of your opponent's deployment zone so that they split their forces in two and hug the edge of the table, which obviously becomes easy meat for your genestealers and flyrant if you buy one .
hope that helps and good luck with your tornament!
dude zoanies in a drop pod are the scariest thing to anyone you play...if you march them on the feild the opponent will be sure to dodge them
I think you should take atleast one big brood of guants with toxin sacs. 30 Termagaunts with toxin or 30 Hormagaunts with toxin is SCARY. They can easily take out monsterous creatures or squards of high toughness units like Plague Marines, Bikes, Wraithguard, etc.
Either get rid of the carnifex or put him in a mycetic spore. Unless you equip him for ranged combat, he won't do much except die.
Leave the zoanthrope on the board, because you can use them to screen your more fragile units like Genestealers. Also the Zoanthrope with draw a ton of fire from your opponent. Don't be afraid to use your Zoanthropes aggressively. I do it all the time and they always earn their points back in either kills or drawing fire.
Take Hive Commander instead of Old Adversary, it's much better IMHO. And if you cut a single Hive Guard (two are usually enough to bring down light vehicles) you can "upgrade" the Carnifex into another Trygon. Three Trygons and +1 to reserve rolls means pain for your opponent.
Necron Army Building Maxima: Beware of Phase Out
Yes take hive commander instead it is much better than old adversary. Don't take two trygon primes! Take one and then take a mawloc. You will split enemy fire and the mawloc is very good so long as it doesn't scatter. Also find some room for gargoyles they are a great assaulting unit. Give them toxin sacks and adrenal glands and they will be great. Also use some points to get Stranglethorn cannon on your carnifex. It works well as anti troop.
WH 40k Armies (W/L/D):
Tyranid: 2250 Points of Awesome (5/4/1)
Necrons: 1000 Points (4/0/1)
I could always play 3 trygons, or perhaps 9 carnifexes, maybe even an endless swarm! The flyrant is out of the question, its distraction abilities are great but only have one tyrant and he doesn't have wings (but he is killing a space wolf ). To be honest, I care more about the fantasy tournament the day after the 40k one but I figure if I'm at the convention for GW product anyway I'll bring my 40k and enjoy myself. 10 year vet and I'm down to 3 armies , don't want to be a cheesy player and bring the wolves, nids or DE are my only choices after that. And like I said figured what the hell. I'll just have to try em (lists) out when I can see how it goes.
Dude, I see that you're selling your Red Scorpions and now going into the Nids. Cool.
Like everyone says, change out Old Adversary for Hive Commander. Also try to get your Carnie a Mycetic Spore. There's nothing like 3 TMC's, some zoans, outflanking genes and 1 squad of warriors (outflanking due to the tyrant) to put the heat on your opponent's own backyard.
So what tourney is this (and when)? Maybe I might be able to go as well.
