2x4 Dark Reapersw Exarch, Crack Shot, Tempest Laumcher=384
it leaves me with 10 points to spare.. any good??
In 1500 points, i always try and take a farseer w/doom and runes of warding. This lets you re-roll any failed wounds on a target unit, and the runes pretty much poops up any other psyker on the board.
The avatar isnt bad, but he'll probably be taking alot of fire, so be sure to back him up.
The 5 fire dragons in the falcon is a very good, solid unit capable of destroying enemy tanks almost strait away, and with holofields, theyr more durable then a wave serpent imo. But, you need another gun on it. Unless you ment shuriken cannon instead of catapault. Also, as your only tank on the board, this will be taking alot of fire from lascannons and missles ect. So keep it in cover when you can.
Harlequins looks like a good unit.
Pathfinders are super resiliant when placed in a good bit of cover, and they can infaltrate to hold an objective. But watch out for those nasty flamers, as you dont get a cover save vs them.
Personally, i like to take warp spiders in bigger groups. Thats just my opinion. And did you pay for that deep strike rule? if you did, take it off. Because warp spiders are jump infantry, they can deep strike anyway.
And last but not least, the dark reapers. these guys will probably decimate any space marine player you play against. Make sure you get them in cover, because they probably wont be moving around to much (heavy guns). If you wanted an alternitive to the reapers, you could play 3 fire prisms, if you run the prisms naked (no upgrades) you could fit them in for 345pts. giving you some points to spend on other squads.
But yea, your doing alot better then my first couple of lists.
I think you might be better served with a farseer than the avatar. Doom or guide will help up the kill count for the army and fortune would be great if you can get most of the static shooting units into cover. The reapers would have 3+ or 4+ from cover and pathfinders would be 2+ add a reroll and it takes a determined effort to remove them ( or a flamer in the pathfinders case ). Is the catapult on the falcon supposed to be a cannon? If not then you still need to buy it a gun. The warpspiders don't need the deepstrike exarch power. All jump infantry get deepstrike now days, this will save you some extra points. I generally take a powerweapon on my troupe master as he in theory will cause more armor ignoring wounds against infantry and against T6 or 7 he is still only wounding on 6 and ignoring armor ( just like the kiss). If you find yourself trying to kill T8 monsters alot then the kiss would be better (it also is a bit better at killing vehicles ) but that is why you have the rest of the harlies.
The falcon is going to attact all the enemy anti tank weapons. It might be able to survive but be aware it will happen. You seem a bit short on troops,I like 1 per 500 as a general rule. They are also fairly static and vulnerable to assault/flamers, you will need to be very protective of them in objective missions. your armor hunting is a bit light with only the dragons and the avatar really having a good chance to dealing with higher AVs, the spiders may work in a pinch by mass fire but with the AP - I don't put much faith in them killing a tank outright.
I think I would advise dropping one of the reaper squads and fitting in another troop. something that can add some high strength shooting for MCs and tanks. Perhaps something in a waveserpent or some jetbikes with a warlock using a singing spear, not the best AT but it will fast decently durable in the open and with a spear and some cannons it could do ok at AV hunting.
grrr looks like someone types faster than I do.
wow thanks for the advice, im a bit iffy with the farseer, coz he is squishy, and when i used psykers with my guard i usually suffer about 2-3 perils by turn 5 (i dont think the warp like mes ) but the farseer gets his 3+ save if i tool him up i suppose
thanks for the deepstrike info, i didnt know jump infantry had it standard that freed up 20pts
if i drop 1 squad of dark reapers its frees up another 192, giving me 222 total, i can all a missile luncher to the Falcon, and get 5 DA in a wave serpent, nice and cheap, leaving me 52 pts, im afraid i dont have my codex on me atm, so im sorry if i get the prices wrong here, but a fully tolled up farseer is prob about 150 points with doom, guide, fortune, and all other upgrades? or am i way off? il check the points and edit it properly when i get home, but otherwise how is that looking? il be looking to start buying in 2 weeks, i was guna start with the avatar coz i really like the model, but it doesnt seem to be to popular lol
I think the Ghosthelm comes automatically with the Farseer.
You should probably only get two psychic powers for your farseer with spirit stones. Runes of warding are also pretty good especially if you know your opponent is going to field pyskers.
Yeh, that pretty much brings your farseer up to 150 pts.
Fear is of the unknown...
so swap avatar, for farseer, drop 1 squad of dark reapers, add 5 DA in wave serpent, Upgrade Falcons wepaons, should leave me with a few points, enough atleast to give Firedragons exarch with tank hunter
