I just recently started with eldar and would like to have some feedback on the 600 pts army that I'm trying to put together. My friends and I decided that we would all put together a 600 pts army that we can't tweek after we've "submitted" them since they think it wouldn't be "fair" otherwise. My friends are playing Space Marines, Deamonhunter, tyranids, tau and Necrons. So I guess I'm looking for an "alround" army...
The one i put together is as follows:
Farseer: doom singing spear.
5 Rangers: pathfinders.
10 Guardians: SL.
1 Warlock: Conceal.
5 Warp Spiders.
Wraithlord: BL, EML.
= 603 pts
I've also got 3 more warlock, 6 striking scorpions and 5 dark reapers (or rapers as my space marine buddy calls em').
So what do you think? Would love some feedback on just these models that I've got right now since I'm kinda low on cash at the moment but tips on what to buy next is also appreciated!
Ps: Hope it doesn't violate the forums rules since it below 1000 pts and i've acctually have no idea if we've got some special rules etc...
Hey Abub, Welcome to LO!
Honestly, you didn't break any rules, however you got your ">" backwards it should be facing the other way for "less than' 1k.
Most of your list is fine. There are a few things that are kinda bothering me a bit though.
Upgrading rangers to pathfinders seems rather expensive at this point in time, I'd suggest dropping the upgrade for now.
Warpspyders need a twinked out exarch to really shine. At the very least with dual powerblades, and either a spinneret rifle or dual death spinners. Withdraw might not be a bad call either. I've actually seen a 600pt list extremely similar to this (except with striking scorpions instead of warp spyders, and the guardians had an EML) that I tried teaching a friend of mine to play with. It worked out alright. I feel the mobility and hitting power of the spyders will be an improvement over the scorpions.
What to buy next is dependent on what sort of force you want to field. Eldar work best in a couple ways, using the army as a collective style. Mechanized is very popular, for it emphasizes the speed and focus of eldar assaults. Jetbike lists are another viable option, with high mobility but a bit less hitting power. A rare option (and a personal favorite) besides these is an ambush army. Using a multitude of stealth/infiltrate units to come on from flanks and harass the enemy. Eldar aren't a terribly great gunline army these days.
Depending on what army style you go, I would suggest buying either waveserpents w/ dire avengers or storm guardians, jetbikes, or war walkers/ striking scorpions and some more rangers. Fire prisms are a good support choice for any list as well.
Thanks alot for the kind welcome! I've been on far too many bad forums lately...
I'll make sure to drop pathfinding on my Rangers and upgrade my spiders.
It didn't occur to me yesterday that i could ask more expirienced players on forums for tips and therefore i din't realise that mech was the best way to go. So from now on I think i'll buy the Avengers and Wave serpent, when i've got the money and from there on we'll see. Gotta say, the thought of an mech Eldar army is really sweet (considering that eldar's got the coolest vehicles in 40k), but damn the thought also hurt my wallet.
Again, Thanks alot!
