Hello. Have a 2v2 tournament coming up in the next 7 weeks. Trying to get a list down that compliments my partner (we both play nids).
Rules allow for 1-1 hq, 0-1 elite, 0-1 fa, 0-1 heavy, 2-2 troops (one player can take 2-3 troops) @ 1000 points each.
My Partner typically runs, 2 Tervigons, 1 Prime, 3 Zoas in a spore, 1 termi squad, 1 warrior squad, and a trygon.
I was conisdering running this a list but I am unsure as to how well it will compliment his half.
Hq- Hive Tyrant - Tl-Devs w/bl, Hive Commander, Heavy VC, leech and parox.
Elite -2 Zoanthropes in a spore, Cluster spines on the spore
Troop 1 - 4 warriors, rending, pair boneswords, toxin
Troop 2 - 10 Genestealers, Toxin
Heavy 1 - Carnifex in a spore, toxin, frags, 2x scything, plasma, and clusters on the spore.
Idea is to start with the tyrant on the board behind one of his tervigons, Outflank/infiltrate the warriors and the genestealers, and drop pod the zoas and the fex in where needed as my partner foot slogs up the feild with his choices, He will pod the zoas, and will either ds the trygon or just walk it on (people tend to shoot it no matter where its at).
I would follow the Tervi's and gaunts up the field and attempt to armor snipe with the HVC and or support the walking units, and drop the fex in and let it rampage while i try and armor snipe with the zoas. My troops would pick off heavy weapon/tac squads and or take/contest objectives.
Running a 1k list is difficult enough as nids (new codex has too many goodies in it, hard to pass them up) and being further confined by the guidlines of the tournament make rounding out a list rather difficult. Luckily my partner is playing nids as well which makes tailoring my list a little easier.
Any thoughts or criticisms are welcome.
how can your partner run this list, with the rules mentioned
hq 3 (a tervigon can only be troops if you run a gaunt squad, so max is 1 tervigon and 1 squad of gaunts)
2 Tervigons, 1 Prime,
3 Zoas in a spore,
1 termi squad,
1 warrior squad,
so this list isn't legal for this.
Your own list looks good
I'm used to him running his 1500pt list, I have not seen his 1000pt yet. I was merely speculating on what he was might or might not cut out. Either way you get the general idea of what he runs.
Ny 1500 list actually contained:
3 Hive Guard
3 Zoans in a Spore Pod
And Jur, Tervigons count as troops in the FOC as long as I have 1 termagant brood for each one. Durp.
For only 1000pts, I would most likely not run zoanthropes. I doubt to see any land raiders or much of anything with AV 13+. I would instead sub them for 2-3 Hive Guard. As for troops, Id cut the gaunt brod and 1 of the tervigons out, maybe slim the warrior brood down to 4. That would ive me enough points for a brod of 8-10 Genestealers with Talons and Toxin Sacs. I'm still iffy on the Trygon, but at a small point event, his value may be greater than I think. I'll have to test it, otherwise I may instead run 2 Biovores or something.
Tournament isnt for almost 2 months, so we have time to prepare. I may run something completely different than the norm, expecially sinc emost people there have seen my playstyle, I might consider changing it up. Only time will tell.
I didnt even know you were on here, Excellent (I'll pm you my email)
I spent several hours last night pouring over lists and running them thru a spreadsheet. I'm leaning towards something that infiltrates/outflanks/deepstrikes the majority of the units so as to deal with the new Ba teams and the horde of mechanized stuff people seem to run. I tried really hard to find a way to do a parasite list. but the above seemed to be more adaptable overall (plus i dont own any gargoyles, and i have no wings to make shrikes).
I was going to try and run a trygon prime, but for the point value a rampaging spore dropped fex seemed to be the better value. I am sorely dissapointed with the shooty aspect of the new codex, nearly everything is bs3 and or uses blast template scatters. There is just no accuracy. Its like you have to take hive guard and zoa's and hope your slashy gribblys distract things long enough for them to make themselves worthwhile.
Also thing im going to be proxy'ing and using "counts as" rules for the next few weeks, As i dont wanna run myself ragged assembling and breaking down bugs as the list evovles. I'm really dissapointed I spent all that time modified that tyrannofex only to see it prove to be worthless (termigaunts shoot better as far as i concerned) and be relegated to a pretty shelf decoration.
As for av13+. Deep strike land raiders and flying dreads from the new ba codex, the blood angel/sister matchup is going to be dread/excorsist heavy since ba's can run dreads as troops now. I'im certain there will be a fair few demolishers, So im looking at as much anti vehicle melee that can double as anti troop to combat the excess of assault based armies we run into.
Pretty much i'm looking at it this way, if we can put the screws to the ba/sob list with some regularity the rest should be managable.
Ill be up at Shannies today and probably Saturday, so we have time to get our lists right. Actually after thinking about your list and reading some of your comments I had a plethora of ideas come to me while pacing around my house. I'll share a few with ya next time we meet.
Good points on the Zoans, I forgot about soem of the new baddies that the BA codex will bring. Fortunately, we have over a month to playtest against it and since half the people up there will be playing BA's, we have a good amount of time to playtest against the army and try to find its strengths/weaknesses.
