havnt tried this army yet im wonder what you guys think about it, i really like the dire avengers they are good for shooting and CC so much better then guardains. I havnt played many games the ones i have played have been 1000 points aginst space wolves and a few 500 points aginst orks. Asurmen took out 20 'ard boys with out taking a wound his +2 save and +4 invul save make him hard to kill his 4 attacks with 7 I and a power weapon can do some serous damage. not sure how the scatter lasers would do aginst space wolves ive only used start cannons aginst them any input on that? always have a hard time wounding with the DAs are their 3-4 strenght the doom seer works very well i love em. i dont have a wave serpent yet would love to put one in. and im worried that tanks might be an issue with this army. please tell me what you think about it, sorry for the bad spelling and what not.
Tanks are indeed going to be a problem. Your only AT is one Singing Spear and one Scorpion Claw. Anything that has armour 12 or stays 12" away is actually 90% safe from your entire army. Scatter lasers can glance AV12 but thats it. You're also looking to use Dire Avengers in combat which may work with Asurmen but is still a bad idea against combat specialists. If I was you I would get many more S6 shots and hope for side armor or get a Wraithlord or two with Brightlance and EML. The Wraithlord is tough to kill at 1000pts and will actually give some reach.
In all honesty, using a Phoenix Lord at 1000pts is too many eggs in one basket. He's nice but if you drop him and one power on the Seer then you can get 2 AT Wraithlords which can also take down Orks with 4 flamers between them.
Just a thought. Your other alternatives are Wave Serpents, EML's on the War Walkers, or using Guardians with EMLs/Brightlances (in order of effectiveness).
i have a wraith lord thing is when i use it he drops in some guys with power fists and rips it appart and the tau player has like 3 braod sides in his army. would do pretty good aginst the works as he has few power klaws. Orks keep waaghing me i gota keep better distance and do better in the shooting phase. what about droping the PH for avatar and giving a warwalker or to bright lances?
You can actually split the Walkers! I didn't realize because I always have 3 heavy choices and never room to play with. An avatar would do pretty well and keep the walking avengers around despite shooting. The Warwalkers really need lots of shots to be good and as soon as you split them up Guide becomes not worth it. You can try 3 with EML's and a Guideseer in cover or seperate squads of War Walkers sneaking around with Scatter lasers. 8 S6 is pretty good against side armour.
ive had the walkers split up every time sept when ive used the wraith lord i usaly use my seer for doom because i find wounding the hardest part, also for the rerolling saves on what ever is taking the most heat usaly use star cannons on the warwalkers aginst the space wolves but i i think they scatter lasers may prove better. usaly do have my war walkers sneaking around getting shots off on what they can as he shoots em one at a time with this heavy weapon team. how would you fit warwalkers aginst tau?
