So I am struggling with a tourney list for a 1750 tourney coming up.
I have a base list of:
HQ: Tyrant (HVC, BS/LW, Old Adversary, Paroxysm, Leech Essence)
Tyrant Guard x 2
HQ: Tervigon (Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Catalyst, Cluster Spines)
Elite: Hive Guard x 2
Elite: Zoanthrope x 2 (Mycetic Spore, TL-Deathspitter)
Elite: Doom (Mycetic Spore, TL-Deathspitter)
Troop: Termagants x 10
Troop: Tervigon (Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Catalyst, Cluster Spines)
Heavy: Tyrannofex (Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines, Dessicator)
Now here is the conundrum I have. Do I take:
Troop: Genestealer x 10
Troop: Genestealer x 10
Troop: Genestealer x 20
Troop: Warrior x 7 (Rending Claws, Devourers, and Toxin Sacs)
If I took warriors, I would probably take off Old Advesary and put on Hive Commander
Stealers are clearly an amazing unit in CC, especially for the price. They are just so fragile.
The warriors are more multi-purpose then the stealers, more durable, but are not nearly as solid in CC as the stealers. Plus insta-gibbing a warrior with a fist is way pricier then hitting a stealer. (I would expect to see lots of hidden fists in tourneys).
Not a bad list. Your tyrant looks expensive, but it still looks good until I get to your troops.
Um...if I had to choose from the three options you gave, I would go with the first, simply because it gives you more troops choices and thus more choices. However, even then you would only have 4 troops, all except one of which are extremely fragile. I would suggest getting more troops, possibly trading out your Tyranno for a cheaper, better HS, because you already have a lot of ranged threats (Hive guard, zoan, doom).

as said above list looks decent. im not a fan of HVC.
as for your choices, I hate genestealers in squads of more then 5. I think they are ment more as a shock unit and you would be better off with four 5 man stealers squads with toxin sacs. Stealers with the new dex are far to fragile and important to be mowed down by one round of bolter fire. keep em small, if one squad breaks another well get in.
with your list composition though, im leaning towards the warriors. and personally i would make my tervigon's alil cheaper, there normal statlines crush stuff as it is.

Well, I played a game with a very similar list last night and used warriors in the list. I think for an all-comer list, I will keep the warriors. I can see them being more useful against MEQ, which is till a very popular army choice. They do need to be able to utilize cover, so I feel that the addition of a venomthrope or two may be in order.
In regards to thre number of troop choices I field, I feel very comfortable with it. The reason being is that my Tervigons can just create more scoring troops. That is a guaranteed two more troop choices and buffed termagnats from a tervigon has shown in every game I have played to be quite a nice unit. They can do so much! They are more reliable to throw a wound or two onto a squad they normally wouldn't, feel no pain on big squads makes for GREAT tar pitting units. They already have move through cover, so although the strike last going into cover, they are more reliable assulting into it and weeding out dug-in squads.
All in all, the list played well, although I still see that AT will always be a 'Nid issue.
