so next week is my first noob tournament. It is a 1000 point army. I'm building a ork horde army. this is what i have for my army list. I'm looking for advice on what changes i should make. I have a large collection of orks so any changes should be easy for me to make. (though that is all of the boys i have)
6 nobs w/ 2 power klaws 3 big choppas
5 kommandos w/ grotsnik
1 killa kan w/ grotzooka
20 shoota boys
2 big shootas
1 nob w/ pk and bosspole
19 shoota boys
2 big shootas
1 nob w/ pk and bp
19 slugga boys
2 rokkit launchas
1 nob w/ pk and bp
thanks for all the advice!
Ditch the rokkits in the slugga boyz and add another nob. But the weird boy will be fun!
I'd drop the group of nobz. In order to be effective, they need a way of moving around quickly (either a transport or bikes), a waaaugh banner, combi-scorchas on the models with powerklaws, and DEFINITELY a bosspole. You could drop the big choppas in the future. In this list, however, I'd just drop the unit.
Instead, I'd use the models as kommandos. Either add to the existing unit (Grotznik? Do you mean Snikkrot) or add a second unit. Also, kommandos need either rokkits or burnas to be effecitve. I'd go with burnas.
Finally, you should upgrade the weirdboy into a warp 'ead. The re-roll is great for avoiding unlucky rolls.
Everything else looks good. Good luck!
It is true, however, that the re-roll should not be used to 'fish' for a specific power you want, because you're increasing the odds you'll hurt your own group, or deepstrike when you don't want to.
Again, I'd definitely take the warp 'ead upgrade, but only re-roll if the random power would significantly hurt you.
The only problem is to know exactly what are the bad rolls. In my opinion, you should only reroll 'Eadbanger if you can afford to get 'Ere We Go (meaning: you are not in assault range and there is enough room to safely Deep Strike). You should always reroll 'Ere We Go unless you can Deep Strike safely. Too many people are afraid of 'Eadbanger, but lets face it, 'Eadbanger can lose you models, 'Ere We go can lose you a unit.
Revenant Moon Necrons: (W/L/D) 0/1/0 (6th edition: 13/2/2)(5th edition: 14/6/4)(3rd edition Codex: 16/4/7)
XIX Legion: (W/L/D) 0/0/0 (5th edition: 14/12/2)(5th edition Codex: 4/3/0)
Black Legion: (W/L/D) 1/0/0 (6th edition: 2/3/0)
Something Wicked... Reikwald Beastmen: (W/L/D) 10/4/1
That's exactly my point. You can (and will) be tempted to take that reroll simply to get a better result. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TRICK! Suck it up and take the bad roll. Only use the reroll when the first result is devastating (like 'Ere We Go...potentially the WORST result, depending on situation).
Very solid list, especially for a beginner player. Kudos! I'd keep the nobz, as they're going to be a big threat and 1k points armies probs won't be able to shoot them to peices if you put the warphead with them for teleporty goodness. Drop the rokkits from the sluggas and put burnas in the kommandos unit instead. Lookin' good!
Well as an update. I Kept the nobz! (they tore through some space marines for me!) i did reduce the size of the boys squads and gave them some rokkit launchas in each. (again they proved their worth by blowing up a tank). I didn't upgrade to a warp head. . . just couldn't justify the points because i knew my strength would come from numbers. I did pull off an amazing Er we go were i pretty much dropped right into combat with an eldar squad! it was great he took out half the squad but then i proceeded to take out a squad and a half before they fell. Now burnas in the kommandos squad i should have done but i didn't have any. . . but i'm getting some! in all three games i played they kommandos where awesome. moving in off the opponents side shocked everyone! in game one they finished off the eldar. gave the grey knights something to worry about. and with the space marines he had set him self up with a safe little nook until i dropped in behing him. called a waaagh. then assulted him from behind. but i can see burnas being good in that group. I'll check my rules and see how much i can do! in total, i defeated the eldar, did horrible against the grey knights (but that army was bs. it was a noob game and he was NOT a noob player). and decided i do need trukks because i would have defeated the space marines if i could have got into combat faster.
