Welcome to Librarium Online!
ok, so I'm returning to the hobby after a long time away and am probably going to be playing necrons for the best part while I slowly build my side army of space wolves.
The rundown of what i've got.
Basically all of my crons I doubt off ebay relatively recently after the new codex came out (so a while ago) for £70 roughly. A steal if i do say so myself.
Ok. What have i got?
1 Destroyer body lord
2 Necron Lords (warscythe)
60-70 necron warriors
4 Flayed ones
5+ scarab swarms ( how many scarabs do you need on each base?)
8(11) - 8 Destroyers + 2 Heavy + Lord with destroyer body I could swap these around as needed (1 old style destroyer love the old one)
2 Heavy Destroyers
2 Tomb Spyders - 1 particle 1 normal
Was wondering if I could get some help in piecing together a competitive 1000pt list for 5th ed. If theres anything I need to buy just lmk but I think I should have what i need :o

This should probably be in the army list section but I'll leave Alzer to his diabolical thread move bidding mwahahahahaha! Anyway, the two most competetive 1000 point builds I've seen (and used) are:
1 Foot Lord with Res Orb
2 squads of 10 Warriors
1 squad of 5 Destroyers
1 Monolith (or another squad of 5 Destroyers)
I run the list with the Monolith and have yet to be defeated with it (my 2 losses that you can see in my signature was in a terrible 1850 game I had and in a 1000 point game where I spammed Warriors and Scarabs which was bad in so many ways).
World Eaters: W-47 D-10 L-9
Necrons: W-19 D-3 L-2
Protectorate of Menoth: W-36 D-0 L-7
How much better is monolith than 5 destroyers? The previous owner of the monolith (sadly) was clearly the second of the two the models came from. One carefully put them together and painted them while the other most likely painted/glued them while having a seisure. In other words. I'll probably have to strip the monolith down before I can bear being seen with it.
Also does a lords warscythe have a built in guass like the pariahs?

Well dang, now that my reputation is being challenged, I obviously must do something!
Competitive 1k list you say. Well now...
HQ: Lord w/ orb (This is your general purpose support for warriors, keeps your phalanx alive, keeps you from phasing out. I find a gaze of flame or other cheaper utility wargear is also nice to have around for fun).
Trp: Warriors 2x10 - Because you gotta have them, small squad is important to reduce losses when they are swept (note this is not IF) they do put out respectable fire once in range, and are insanely tough against enemy shooting (think not caring about plasma cannons tough)
FA: 2x3 Destroyers. - This is your unit that will actually kill things when you need them killed, tough, mobile, high damage output
HS: 2x Tomb Spyders - These are a heavy hitting blocker for your warriors. They can take on most anything in the game in CC and always succeed at drawing fire and keeping your warriors up just a bit longer.
The last 90 points are for minute upgrades on the lords, and a handful of scarabs to do some interception work or possibly tank hunting.
Well now we have a little contradiction (or playstyle difference).
Which of those two -
Alzer or Ghost of Rage's lists would you say most suitable to begin with?
I think Ghost's list is a little more competitive, but if you really want my advice on the whole matter; try both. Heck make 12 1k lists and try ALL of them. Learning all the little nuances of the units you have at your disposal is important, you may be sitting on a unit that works very well in your hands and not know it otherwise!
