Army Idea actuall list 1550 points need to go to 2000 also

here is my ideas so far for 1550 I have not had a chance ot play 5th ed codex yet but did play 4th ed.

    HQ

    Hive Tyrant - 220
    leach essence
    paroxysm
    Old Adversary
    Bone sword and lash whip
    heavy venom cannon

    Troops

    30 Termagaunts - 150

    30 Termagaunts - 150

    Tervigon - 200
    Cluster Spines
    Toxin Sacks
    Regeneration

    Tervigon - 200
    Cluster Spines
    Toxin Sacks
    Regeneration

    Elites

    2 Hive Gaurd - 100

    2 Hive Gaurd - 100

    Heavy Support

    Trygon - 200

    Trygon - 200

    Current tottal 1520

Im not sure how well this would work out so far. I was thinking i could drop the termis and go stealers or warriors and let the tervigons produce the termi's. But keeping a screen of termis around the tervigon would make sense to empower their assaulting ability. Also the Tyrant could hang around to give prefered enemy if needed.

seeing that tyrant is rocking it on foot i'd recommend tyrant guard.

getting some different troops in there would probably make your game more interesting, and i'm a big fan of giving large gaunt squads devourers. but ignoring that, your troop core is solid - it'll just have to rely on the rest of the army to do the real damage

I was thinking while i could throw warriors in their i could instead use raveners as kamikaze units. Put onslaught on the tervigons for move, run, shoot, charge and deal with some of that. or i could use stealers. that may help it out. Though i think i have anti tank now covered atleast.

Provided your footslogging your Trygons along with everything else, that's not too bad an army list. You will likely be mauled by any Marines army with land raider delivery systems (e.g., Vulkan Marines) and you'll also have trouble against fully mechanized IG, so those is are issues that I would personally try to rectify. But it definitely has potential.

Giving a walking Tyrant some Tyrant Guard -- at least one -- is strongly recommended. You don't need more than 10 termagants for Troops; your Tervigons will give you all the Troops you need ... and are Troops themselves. You're set. I'd also exchange regeneration for catalyst, especially in a list with limited shooting like you have.

If you make those changes, that nets you 70 pts right there.

For 1500 pts, I would also consider dropping one of the tervigon/termagant combos in favor of some other Troops unit to save a few more points. Aiming for points to get a smidge more shooting into the list would be worth it. For example, consider exchanging one of the Trygons for a 200 pt Carnifex with brainleech devourers and a HVC.

Things to think about. It's a solid core that just needs tweaking and focus. I tend to want more shooting, but if you go for more assault, that's OK, too. But then you need to seriously increase your survivability with more MCs (more T6 wounds == more survivability against enemy firepower) and/or a greater ability to get cover saves (e.g., Venomthropes) and/or more speed (e.g., hormagaunts for super fleet, anything with wings, a deep-strike focused list).
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

I think your army is going in a good directions, but there seem to be a couple small synergy questions.

Personally I'm leery of the Cluster Spines on Tervigons, as the large blast template is not something you want coming out of something which is trying to support your massed gribblies, a bad scatter could cause issues for you there.

I agree on the Regeneration. Though attractive, the price of the upgrade could eventually net you another squad of units, which will generally make the list more effective than keeping one model around longer.
