    Revised 2.5k Eldar list

alright, i just kinda drastically revised my 3k eldar main list, cutting it down to 2.5k. here's the new version:

    HQ-
    Autarch- 80 pts
Banshee Mask, Scorpion Chainsword, Avenger Shruiken Catapult

    Farseer- 120 pts
    Spirit Stones, Doom, Guide

    Elites-
    10 Striking Scorpions- 212 pts
    Exarch, Scorpions Claw, Stalker, Shadowstrike

5 Fire Dragons w/ Wave Serpent- 235 pts
Exarch, Firepike, Tank Hunters, Wave Serpent, Twin-Linked Eldar Missile Launchers

    Troops-
    10 Pathfinders- 240 pts
    Pathfinder

    10 Pathfinders- 240 pts
    Pathfinder

10 Dire Avengers w/ Wave Serpent- 287 pts
Exarch, Dual Avenger Shruiken Catapults, Bladestorm, Wave Serpent, Twin-Linked Eldar Missile Launchers, Star Engines

    10 Dire Avengers- 287 pts
Exarch, Dual Avenger Shruiken Catapults, Bladestorm, Wave Serpent, Twin-Linked Eldar Missile Launchers, Star Engines

    18 Guardians- 168 pts
    Eldar Missile Launcher Weapon Platform

    Fast Attack-
    3 Vypers- 195 pts
    Eldar Missile Launcher x3

    Heavy Support-
    Fire Prism- 115 pts

    Fire Prism- 115 pts

    5 Dark Reapers- 207 pts
Exarch, Eldar Missile Launcher, Crack Shot

    Total Points- 2, 501

when i get home i'll post the old list for comparison, but i'm off to work soon.

some more changes i'm considering: losing the scorpions claw on the striking scorpions, changing the guardians to 8-10 bare bones dire avengers, losing the star engines on both dire avenger wave serpents, possibly cutting one pathfinder squad to 5, or cutting it altogether. and i'm REALLY not happy with the fire dragons. it's so many damn points to drop on a basically sacrificial unit. considering dropping it altogether and taking 3 brightlance vypers instead to provide the same amount of anti-tank with less risk.

    anyway, fire away guys

I'd keep the Guardians, but drop a few from the unit. If the survivability of the Dragons concerns you, drop the Exarch and use them as a suicide squad. Save some points and get another anti-tank unit.

yeah that makes sense. tank hunters really is over kill for them, anyway.

and obviously i could drop the autarch for another farseer. or even maugan ra and stick him in my dark reaper squad. but either option would be much more expensive.

heck, i could just run one HQ and use those 80 points to get something else.

oh and for comparison, the old 3k list:

    HQ-
    Autarch- 130 pts
    Jetbike, Laser Lance, Fusion Gun

    Farseer- 150 pts
    Jetbike, Spirit Stones, Doom, Guide

    Elites-
    10 Striking Scorpions- 212 pts
    Exarch, Scorpions Claw, Stalker, Shadowstrike

    10 Striking Scorpions- 212 pts
    Exarch, Scorpions Claw, Stalker, Shadowstrike

5 Fire Dragons w/ Wave Serpent- 235 pts
Exarch, Firepike, Tank Hunters, Wave Serpent Twin-Linked Eldar Missile Launchers

    Troops-
    10 Pathfinders- 240 pts
    Pathfinder

    10 Pathfinders- 240 pts
    Pathfinder

10 Dire Avengers w/ Wave Serpent- 297 pts
Exarch, Power Weapon and Shimmershield, Bladestorm, Wave Serpent, Twin-Linked Eldar Missile Launchers, Star Engines

    10 Dire Avengers- 162 pts
Exarch, Power Weapon and Shimmershield, Bladestorm

    18 Guardians- 198 pts
Warlock, Embolden, Eldar Missile Launcher Weapon Platform

    Fast Attack-
    5 Shining Spears- 227 pts
    Exarch, Shuriken Cannon, Withdraw

    3 Vypers- 195 pts
    Eldar Missile Launcher x3

    Heavy Support-
    Fire Prism- 115 pts

    5 Dark Reapers- 175 pts

    3 War Walkers- 215 pts
Eldar Missile Launchers x6, Spirit Stones

    Total Points- 2, 999

i think the new list ism uch more focused, really. the shinning spears for instance seemed to have no point in this version. they were just there to be there.

Indeed the new list is much more focused.

assuming an objective game i see it going like this:

both pathfinder squads and the scorpions infiltrate behind the enemies home objective. the pathfinders unleash hell on the unit holding the objective while the scorpions move in for the kill.(if playing tough opponents, like space marines, i'd probably imbed the autarch with them, all those extra high ws and high int attacks couldn't hurt, otherwise the autarch sits in one of the avenger squads to add to their weight of fire and give them some measure of counter-assault ability)

once they've cleared the objectives, the pathfinders sit on it and hold it for the game(hopefully)

while that's going on, the dire avengers are speeding up the gut to get into range, then hauling out and forming up a gun line. again, depending on the opponent, i'll either put the farseer in one of their units to buff the gunline, or i'll put him with my firebase of the prisms and reapers to buff them(if face power armour, for instance).

the large guardian squad will camp and hold my home objective.

and fire dragons are just mobile suicide tank hunters. run them up to the biggest baddest enemy tank and burn it to slag before dying

oh and the vypers i see being a mini-gunline, moving around to counter threats breaking through my gunline, unlike the prisms and reapers, which won't move all game.(ideally)
