Welcome to Librarium Online!
My brother's looking to start up an Ork army for his first step into 40k. He's already been out and bought a Nobz box (I know they might be quite difficult to kit up in a 500 pt army but we've found a decent way), and I gave him a hand building a quick list.
We went out and bought the codex and before he buys any more models, we made up the following 500 point list, and would really appreciate it if you veteran Warbosses could give us some feedback!
Warboss w/ Power Klaw, 'Eavy Armour, Cybork Body, Attack Squig
4 Nobz w/ 3 Big Choppas, Power Klaw, 'Eavy Armour, Waaagh! Banner, Bosspole
Trukk w/ Red Paint Job, Grot Riggers, Wreckin' Ball
20 Shoota Boyz w/ 2 Big Shoota's, Nob with Power Klaw, Bosspole.
Total - 500 points.
The basic action plan would be that the Nobz and Warboss hop in the Trukk and motor forward to start Krushin' some Kraniums as soon as possible, and the Shoota Boyz move and shoot their way forward until they can get into the action too!
I understand that we'll need to get loads more Boyz when we expand, but my brother wants to make use of the Nobz box he got, and I thought they'd be quite a nasty unit with the Warboss and Trukk, especially at such a low points level.
Anyway, as mentioned, any feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers for your time guys
If I was you I'd drop the big choppas, regular choppas will do just as good in most cases and this will allow you to free up some points.
Drop the wreckin ball and the grot riggers and perhaps add a ram to get through difficult terrain. In this small of an army its best to keep the transport cheap especially since it will be singled out by your opponent and destroyed quickly. With the points you shave off by dropping the BC's and the trukk upgrades you can afford to take the last nob from the box with you.
This is a good list though, the above was just a suggestion on how to fit one more of those cool nob models in the army!

IMO, this is a very solid list at 500pts and I for one wouldnt want to face it with marines for instance.
If you want to keep your bro entartained, orks are the best army and id recommend getting a big mek w/shokk attack gun at 1000pts, its brilliant fun to use.
Some of the best games ive played against my bro's orks are when he uses his big mek w/ sag, especially when he goes and shoots himself into combat on turn one.
The only thing I can really suggest with the list is maybe fitting in a wierdboy coz theyre fun to use, just nowhere near as good in combat as a warboss.
Yeah, its kind of hard making suggestions on this list as its got pretty much all you need in it. sorry.
personally then I don't think that one trukk is enough, it will be destroyed on the first or second turn and then the rest of the game will be you slowly footslogging and getting shot to its.
I would recommend making the larger unit of boys a unit of twelve. with the points you have saved yo can buy another trukk with pretty much any of the upgrades.
One trukk usually isn't enough, but at this point level, you don't have much choice. I'd use the one trukk, but I'd consider holding it in reserve. That way, it's guaranteed at least one full move towards the enemy. In any case, instead of grot riggers, I'd give it a ram. The wrecking ball can also go if the points would be more useful elsewhere.
I'd ditch the attack squig from the boss, and the big choppas from the nobz. That gives you 30 points, and I'd spend it on a 5th nob. Also, if you can get the points for a combi-skorcha or two, that'd also be nice (say by removing a wrecking ball...)
