Ok so this is my first list since coming over from Fantasy, and I've done ALOT of reading on these forums so I think I got a pretty good grasp on this stuff. My local store is having a tourney so I wanna have a set list so I can start buying/modelling/painting/playing before it comes up. Thank you!
Hive Tyrant - ST, TL Dev, HC, Leech, Parox, Tyrant Guard x1
Hive Guard x3
Zoanthropes x3 - Mycetic Spore
Genestealers x8 - Broodlord w/ ST
Hormagaunts x15 - TS
Warriors x3 - DS x2, VC
Carnifex - ST x2, Bio-Plasma, Mycetic Spore
Brings me to 1495, I am DEFINATELY in favor of swapping things out in this list and adding new stuff because it stands right now I have about half the models so there is no money wasted . I am however not a huge fan of converting but I will if need be, I'm just not that comfortable with it yet. That being said go ahead and tear away.
P.S. I know the Carnifex looks wierd but I love him and he has worked wonders for me in the little time I've been here, but he's still free game
Seems as if you prefer an all-reserves list, as most of the units are deepstriking, outflanking or infiltrating. However, your HT+guard, warriors and hive guards are starting on the table. On turn 1, all the opponents guns will be fixed onto them and they may not survive.
I think you should go all-reserves. Make your HQ a flyrant w/2 twin-linked devourers and hive commander. Swap out the hive guards for 6-7 ymgarls and give your warriors a spore. Outflank with the hormagants.
Record: Win - Loss - Draw: Hive Fleet Pandora (New) 32-6-6 Space Wolf 7th Co. 52-11-6
Blood Angels 12-4-2 Daemonhunters 20-8-3
Imperial Guards 12-5-2 Daemons 8-3-2
Ranged threat seems to be a bit lacking, as do the troop choices. Zoans really only need 2 in the brood, so I'd scrap one and get a 4th Hive Guard (Two groups of 2 Hive Guard).
Not really Hordey enough to swamp the enemy in bodies and not heavy enough in MCs to soak up wounds. With the zoans and carnifex (possibly the genestealers too), the rest of your army is going to take a beating turn 1. I'd expect either the Trygon or Tyrant to die (trust me, I field enough firepower to bring down at least 2 6 wound MCs at range in my lists no matter what army I'm playing).
The problem is that your army hits in waves. Fast hormas and Trygon up front, hive guard and tyrant farther back, and pods in turn 2 or 3. It's very easy to take this kind of list apart piecemeal so I wouldn't expect it to do well in a tourny. There just aren't enough units supporting each other.
Trick for tyranids is to hit the enemy all at once (majority in reserves or majority on the board) and force the to prioritize targets. In my 1500 point list I have a winged Tyrant, a Trygon Prime, 20 hormagaunts and 40 gargoyles all hitting the enemy line at about the same time. With a Tervigons catalysting my troops, the enemy has a real difficult decision in what to focus on as all four types of units hurt in very different ways.
Farther back are Hive Guard and the Tervigons spawning termagants to hold objectives or add to the horde. A huge shock wave backed up by a few support units. Has done wonders for me.

Double Post, sorry.
Just wondering of you thought that everything might survive if I scrapped the spores altogether. Would the 'fex make it across the board if he just ran the whole way? and if I kept the zoans out of a spore as well and just infiltrated the stealers. When the spores are gone I could throw on some regeneration to the 'fex and maybe the trygon prime? This could make way for 5 more hormagaunts, giving me 20 total with TS. Just wondering, inquiring minds I suppose.
EDIT: Looking in the codex it now seems iffy to put regen on a 'fex with only 4W, but maybe it could work?
