Hi all. New to Necrons, I've acquired enough for my first 1500 pointer -- the following list represents every model i own, with the exception of the Deceiver, who will sit out the first few battles till i get a feel for the army.
Any feedback is gratefully received, particularly regarding the Lords' loadouts:
+ Staff of Light
+ Res Orb
+ Veil of Darkness 200
+ Destroyer Body
+ Res Orb
+ Chronometron 190
12 Warriors 216
14 Warriors 252
3 Destroyers 150
3 Destroyers 150
3 Scarabs + Disp Fields 48
Tomb Spider 55
Destroyer Lord follows the 2 Destroyer units, giving Orb and Combat support. He has WS for dealing with vehicles, and to dissuade enemy ICs from charging.
Lord on foot accompanies both Warriors units in centre, shielded by Monolith where possible.
Spider is mostly for keeping WBB once the inevitable squad dispersion happens.
Scarabs will attempt to assault anything threatening to the Monolith, i.e. S9/10 tanks/heavy weapons. In certain cases they will be held as a screen for my Warriors to prevent over-enthusiastic CC troops reaching them too soon.
PS: This won't be a tourney army, but i hope it will be semi-competitive.

Problem is you're fielding the models you own, so you'll probably answer with something along the lines of "I don't have access to those models". I'll still try to give you some advice though.
The Tomb Spyder really shouldn't be needed if you position your VoD Lord and Monolith well, you might as well drop it and save 55 points. I don't see 3 Scarabs doing much good on their own, so I'd either go for increasing their numbers with the Tomb Spyder points, or removing them alltogether. If you remove them, you've got the points for two more Destroyers, which is a unit you can't field enough of.
Warriors in groups bigger than 10 is risky, due to sweeping advances. I'd say lose the extra numbers, or add another 4 to make up 3 squads of 10 each.
The Destroyer Lord would be better off running a lightning field and bouncing around together with a group of Scarabs, if you can bulk up their numbers. Destroyers have enough survivability and mobility to never get insta-killed unless you're playing against Tau, so you shouldn't have to back them up with a Res. Orb. Chronometron feels like nothing but a point sink, even if it's cheap. I'd say remove the Res. Orb and Chrono, and give him a Lightning Field if he's going with Scarabs, otherwise just give him a Phase Shifter and Warscythe, while removing the D. Body, and let him help cover your Warriors.
Nothing to say about the Monolith. They really can't go wrong.
So, to sum this up...
...Which leaves you with a lot of points that I'd put into one or more of these choices...
+10 Scarabs and Destroyer Lord with Light. Field and Warscythe
If you do add another Monolith, feel free to dump the Veil of Darkness, since I don't see much use for it if you've got two portals already, unless you plan on teleporting Immortals. Since there are no Immortals on your list, and they're insanely expensive to buy, I doubt you'll be fielding them soon.
Not saying your list is bad - it's actually close to what I field, but it could use a little tweaking here and there, at least from my perspective. I usually try to aim for full (5 man) groups of Destroyers, and 10 Scarabs Swarms, if I'm playing at 1500+ points.
Yeah, i know the list is restricted at the moment, but i appreciate the advice on where to expand. Destroyers are definitely high on my list. Another Mono would just be insane, but well worth it. I also hope to up the number of Warrior squads at least to 3, if not 4, for objective missions and more flexibility all-round (and defence against CC/Sweep).
The main advice i really needed was about the Lord's options, so i appreciate the voice of experience in that area. I overloaded them basically just to fill out the points, so will definitely trim them back later. I mainly chose VoD to help with late-game manoevres, although with only 2 squads i don't hold out much hope for them still being alive in T5 It would help them retreat from combat though, which could be nice.
After a few games, I'll replace one Lord with the Deceiver -- Do you feel he is overpowered at this level of game, or should it be ok? I can imagine the cries if i turn up at my local with 2 Monos and the Deceiver
The Deceiver isn't overpowered in any way, really. He's a heavy hitter, but he's also 300 points. The people who call him overpowered are the same people who call Monoliths overpowered... they don't take the entire Necron race into account. Since your basic troops, and pretty much everything except C'tan/Monoliths/Destroyers, are sub-par units, of course you'll be wanting to field the ones that are still actually good. To me, there's no cheap/cheesy/cowardly way to play Necrons since they're so difficult to win with in the first place.
