This is my list for my new tau army. See what you think can i have feedback please because new so would like some advise, tactics if possible.

Alright, I will go over your army list one unit at a time.
Commander: Don't take the Shas'o, it is a waste of points. I recommend a Shas'el with targeting array, plasma rifle, missile pod, hard wired multi tracker and hardwired drone controller with a shield drone, if you are looking for an invulnerable save. Its cheaper and more effective.
Drop the Stealth team and get XV8 suits. just look through the tau threads, and you will find that Stealths aren't really worth it.
Cut one fire warrior squad to 6 basic fire warriors, with pulse rifles, and replace the other squad with 10 kroot and 4-5 kroot hounds(whichever puts you at 100 points)
upgrade the piranhas to have targeting arrays and disruption pods as well.
Tau Empire: We never stop hiding from you
Dang, ya beat me to it first taubeast .
Taubeast summed it up pretty well, but I'll add my mods for good measure.
HQ: Shas'o aren't worth the points. Either make it a FK style, w/PR (if against MEQ types), or w/AFP (against anything else).
ELITE: Ditch the stealth team and go with some XV8 suits, as many as you can if able, your choice of the standard fireknife or deathrain types.
TROOP: 1 team of 6x FW, and a team of 10x kroot and 5x hounds (100pts) should be more than enough.
OPTIONS: now the rest of the list is up for debate the following is a list of units with the optional parts recommended;
*Piranha: Disruption Pod, Fusion Blaster, Targeting Array= 75pts/model
*XV8: Smart Missile System, Advanced Stabilization System= 80pts/model
*HammerHead: Railgun, Burst Cannon, Disruption Pod= 155pts/model
As was stated before taubeast summed it up good. I would add to take a good look through the stickies on the main forum.
Whatever you chose make sure you enjoy playing it.

Nice, like the idea of a static gunline and a mobile squad. I will go through the units:
HQ: good. This is actually exactly what I use. Take the shas'o and replace with shas'el until you reach 1000+ though.
Elite: also good. Despite what some people may say, stealth teams are good if you use them right, e.g. Don't drop them next to that big nasty space marine squad and expect a fusion blaster and 2 burst cannons to do the job. Use them in a tactical role, like behind a land raider. Stay behind it and use it for cover whilst trying to blow
it up, and then put them in a building near a depleated squad of marines, and blast away. Remember to assign them an anti-armour role, then once it is done and you take wounds, take the FB first to still leave you with effective weapons. However unless taking a markerlight drone get rid of the shas'vre.
Troops: not bad. For the devilfish troops, take PC as they come with built-in defensive grenades that many people fail to make use of. If they are on the front line, they are likely to be charged and need some defence. Also, consider putting the markerlight on the stationary warriors in missions where there is much open ground, as it has a 48" range and is less likely to be destroyed if it is far back.
Fast attack: very good. I love piranhas. But give them disruption pods to give them a rather juicy 2+ cover save when turbo boosting and being shot at from more than 12" away. Otherwise, very good. At 1000+ points give them missiles and seeker missiles to make an effective anti-heavy infantry/light tank unit.
Heavy: good choice. Give it disruption pods also, as it is only going to hang back. At 1000+ points give this missiles and seeker missiles too.
Overall: very good. Needs a small amount of tweaking but otherwise currently playable by my standards.
P.S: my hammerhead has a Kill : Death ratio of 4:1. With only the railgun.
