Hive Tyrant - hive commander, 2x scything talons
1 tyrant Guard
3 Warriors + 1 barbed strangler
16 Hormagaunts with Toxin Sacs
1 Trygon + Regen
1 Mycetic Spore
I've never made a tyranid list let alone a reserve list. The idea of them coming onto the board from all sides, and the eerie absense of an enemy on the first turn seems fun. I haven't apportioned the spore on the list as i was waiting for feedback to see which unit will benefit from it best.
Turn 1 all units in reserve.
Turn 2 Trygon arrives (hopefully) as does whoever is in the spore. The outflanking genestealers, and the out flanking warriors/hormagaunts? And anyone else who rolls a 3+
Turn 3 Hopefully somebody failed a reserve roll and now arrives on a 2+ from the trygons hole. Outflankers and trygon begen to run amok in the enemy's deployment zone.
So my concerns are that I have no control over when reserves arrive and units like the hormgaunts or the tyrant who i'd really want to arrive from the tunnel may end up coming in on my table edge. Also the one Zoay will be a big easy target, i was thinking spore for him so at least he can blow a transport or take out a sizable unit the turn he arrives. Between him, the trygon, the tyrant and the stealers i hope to have enough anti-tank albiet all melee oriented...but that's the theme of this army really. Should the warriors change their load out?
Thanks for your thoughts!
Nobody cares to comment? Wonder if that's a good or a bad sign. Is the list un-orginal? Is it competative?
I see what you're trying to do, but relying on the Trygon's hole seems to be a very risky move. When I go for all-reserves lists I make sure all my reserve units can arrive where they want to by themselves (deep strike / outflank), just to avoid having to count on a Trygon showing up in turn 2.
