    1500pts, New Codex - Alpha Strike

    Hi all,

    Got a chance to mince through the new codex and thought about a alpha strike Dark Eldar force, similiar to my Raven Guard Marines...Had a small force of dark eldar a couple of years ago so need guidance on tailoring and weapons etc (but accept new codex, everyone learning)


    HQ = 195pts

    Archon - 110pts
    Combat Drugs, Venom Blade, Clone Field, Blaster

    Hameonculus - 85pts
    Flesh Gauntlet, Scissor Hand

    Troop - 400pts

    Warrior Squad - 200pts
    10man, Sybriane upgrade with blaster, 1 splinter cannon
    Raider with Flicker Shields

    Wyches Squad - 200pts
    10person, Heliatrix, 2 x CCW upgrades
    Raider with Flicker Shields

    Elite - 350pts

    Incubi - 190pts
    5man, Klaveix
    Venom with Splinter Cannon

    Mandrakes - 160pts
    10man with upgrade

    Fast Attack = 318pts

    Reaver Squad - 156pts
    6man, Arena Champion, 2 x Heat Lance

    Reaver Squad - 162pts
    6man, Arena Champion, 2 x Blaster

    Heavy Support = 230pts

    Idea is Archon goes with Incubi for Elites/HQ killing...Haemonculus goes with Wyches to destroy stuff in close combat (pain token to give feel no pain), 2 reaver squads for tank hunting/MC killing, 2 x Ravages for MEQ dealings and finally squad of mandrakes just to inflict a lot of close combat pain...

    Is very much an alpha strike. Deployment will be Archon/Incubi down centre supported by raiders with troop choices, Reavers and Ravagers go down one flank and spam destruction. Mandrakes set up max 18inch away from something - Scout Move, Move, Fleet, Assault.

    106 views, no comments.. There either summit gleamingly wrong or its actually an acceptable list?

    I'd probably switch this. Incubi cost so much because they have 3+ armor and higher WS so keep them away from power weapons and things with WS above 4 (which most HQs and a good number of elites have). The wyches on the other hand have their 4++ in CC so they're great at taking on things with power weapons and their WS is average so won't be wasted fighting higher WS opponents.

    Don't expect anything amazing from the Mandrakes. They're an interesting unit but their save sucks and they have average WS and S, against marines a full squad averages only 2-3 dead on the charge. I'd drop them for something else but if you like them go for it.

    Mandrakes do not have Scout, I think.

    nice and cheap with a good shooting attack, he won't do much in CC against anything with a decent armor save though.

    Taking 2 weapons is overkill in my opinion. I'd drop the Flesh gauntlet for an agonizer for the wyches.

    Solid choice, since they're likely staying in the raider the Sybarite might not be necessary.

    there's no room for the haemonculus so you need to drop a wyche (and a weapon upgrade unfortunately) and the heliatrix needs an agonizer. Which wyche weapons are you taking?

    again I don't think there's room for the Archon. Upgrade the Venom to a raider, then if you've got a few extra points drop the Klaviex for another incubi.

    Good anti-tank, I'd prob give them all heat lances but it's not a big deal.

    OK revised list to come. I am not sure on the weapons for wyches, as not had the codex long enough to actually pin it down and choose. Dropped mandrakes and couple of other changes. Archon with Incubi and Haemonculus with Trueborn...
