I am completely new here & to the game....
I would like to builsd a Ork army with Killa Kanz & maybe Deff Dreads...
I would be playing games from 500 to 2000 points. All a have for now are the
basic Black Reach Orks..
Any sugetions on what I should get to complet my army
I guess the question is, how much money do you want to spend?
I'd start with a nob box, killa kan box, deff dread box.
If youre having walking vechiles you might want to get some meks to repair them
You can get the kan boxes for roughly 39 dollars off amazon (shipped 2nd day), or if you shop around, 30 bucks on ebay shipped (5-7 days).
Each box has 3 kan's. You can build an army to fit 9 killa kan's in 750 points. Kan's are extremely low points, and quite hard to kill. (9 kans full fills your heavy slot)
You'll also want a Big Mek with KFF. He's about 11-15 online, a bit more if you want him painted already.
In a pinch, you can just do some kit bashing on the warboss from the black reach set, and make your own big mek with kustom force field.
As mentioned, you might want to proxy the deff dread to try him out. So far I've used mine 3 times, in 2 games he did nothing till turn 4. In my last game, he wiped out nearly 500 points of SM's BY HIMSELF. It was a slaughter. If your dread gets into CC, everything pretty much dies. He'll completely decimate a squad of terminators, anything with less then str 6 can't even scratch him. Most of the krak equivalent grenades need to roll a 6, then a SECOND 6 to even glance him! Watch out for chainfists though!
Basically all the dread does is run every turn. If you happen to roll a bunch of high numbers, he'll close quickly. Otherwise he's mainly ignored most of the game, until he gets without 1 turn of charging, then all the remaining weapons turn to fire at him.
The kan's usually run 1 turn, then start firing over and over again.
If you start getting into higher point games, there is many different things you can do. You'll probably want more boyz, some grots, some battlewagons, loota's, list goes on and on.
I'd stick to lower point games first. Don't expand too quickly. You'll end up with massive amounts of unpainted models, and it'll be so intimidating to paint, you'll never get around to it, and end up dumping your whole army on craigslist, to some guy like me, for 10% of it's original cost, then suffer as you watch them post on forums showing the army get painted up .
