    1750 WWP Competitive List

So commenting on another's list has prompted me to make my own.

    2 Haemonculi 170
    -WWP

    6 Harlequins 162
    -Kiss of awesomeness
    --Shadowseer

The harlies and the haemons will be the only thing that starts on the board. They'll move up 6 and drop their portals and hopefully live to go chase some enemy unit.

    Talos 115
    -Twin Linked Haywire Blaster
    -Chain flails

Always wanted to use one of these. Looks like I'll get my chance.

    2x Beast Squads 228
-2 Beast Masters, 5 Khymerae, 2 Razorwing Flocks

    2x Ravager 230
    -Flickerfields

Here's my main anti tank and anti infantry units. The Beasts can even go after vehicles as well

    5x 5 Warriors 625
    -Blaster
    -Venom
    --Extra Splinter Cannon

    10 Wychs 220
    -Haywire Grenades
    -Hekatrix
    --Agonizer
    -Raider
    --Flickerfield

I know the skimmers can't be in the webway, but that's fine. That's why the wychs have haywire grenades. The skimmers will be their own units and go shoot things.

I'm going to have a test game soon. Let me know what you think

I have been working on the same thing as you, trying to find the holy grail, a competitive wwp list. So far what I have found, is that it comes down to having enough AT, & depending upon your local meta that can be a hard task to accomplish. The second thing is the inherent fragility of our troops, so with that in mind I have a couple of things you might want to think about. I see you have two wwp, which is good, the bad thing is they are both in the same unit. So if I got this correct, you are going to drop two wwp, a maximum of 18" out, and if you spread your 8 man unit out to maximum unit coherency 18" apart, to let out 1 unit of 10 wyches, 2 small units of beasts , & a talos. My question is why?
You only have 11 darklight weapons, which you might destroy 1 vehicle & stun another(maybe 2). If I was your opponent, I would concentrate all my AT at you 2 ravagers on the first turn, the move on to the venoms, & totally ignore the portals, 2nd turn would be more of the same, & this is why, they won't reach my deployment zone until the 3rd turn & that's if you get them on the 2nd turn.
Not trying to be harsh, but you would be better off getting rid of the wwp, by a raider for your wyches, & use the harlies to escort you talos down field. Oh & combine your beasts into one big nasty unit, that will scare the crap out of people.
Just my opinion, please take it with a grain of salt.

tip. give bot the raider and the venom retro-fire jets as this allows them to deepstrike. otherwise the list looks quite good. a blast pistol on the hekatrix will also come in useful.

So I've been looking around around the web trying to find a good list, and let me tell you, people are getting creative with this. But then it dawned on me: 'We're trying to make a list radically different from a mech list... yet my list was looking the same. Maybe I need a radically different looking list.'

Therefore I came up with this:

    2 Haemonculi 170
    -Webway Portals

    2x 5 Wracks 240
    -Liquifier Gun
    Venom
    -Chain-snares

The Haemonculi take the Wracks' Venoms and hide in terrain first turn. Then the Venom's jump out and the Haemonculi pop their portals. I fully expect the Venoms and Haemonculi to die thus the lack of upgrades. I figured if the Venoms somehow live, then I figured Chain Snares would make for a fun turn.

The Wracks would then pop out of the Webway and go run after some objective.

    4x 5 Warriors 500
    -Blaster
    Venom
    -Extra Splinter Cannon

I saw a lot of people just putting 5 man Warrior squads in the Webway and so I thought I'd give it a try. Push comes to shove, They can just run for it and hide in some building. The Venoms will walk on from my table edge and then go harassing something within their 48" effective range. Which, now that I think about, would be anything on the board.

    2x Beast Packs 378
3 Beast Masters, 9 Khymeras, 3 Razorwing Flocks

    5 Scourges 130
    -2 Haywire Blasters

These guys have several roles. The Scourges are for disabling vehicles. I figured that since I only have 4 blasters, I need to be careful with what I shoot at. But that's also where the Beast Packs come in. They can wreck any APC and they can also do serious damage to any Infantry unit. Due to their high number of attacks, even MC's will have trouble fighting them off.

    2 Taloi 230
    -Chain Flails, TL Haywire Blaster

    Cronos Parasite Engine 100
    -Spirit Vortex

I know I know. No Ravagers. Remember: this is a radically different kind of list. I figure these guys will be good attention grabbers and would actually be good at taking out tanks. The cronos can give a talos a Pain token right off the bat and then you have a pissed off monstrosity hyped up on blood crack chasing you down.

I'm not sure how this list is going to do. I know what I'd tell people who gave me this list to look at, but I don't know. I'm hopeful that GW didn't put such an awesome piece of gear in the book but not make it good.

I think your getting somewhere, but haven't gone far enough.
The wwp is about assault & sending waves upon waves of assault troops, think groteseque tearing apart trasports & troops alike, while wyches charge tanklines w/haywire or tarpit troops, while hellions dart in & out, providing torrents of splinterfire where needed. The beastmaster's & pain-engines rock out of wwp! You have to account for coming on the board 18"-24" on the board on the 2nd turn & ideally anywhere you like on the 3rd. While this is great for no not taking damage, but your opponent hasn't either.
The second thing you have to remember is what happens, if I go second? Are you going to be alive to drop off the portal at least 12" in? What happens if everything has to come in on your board edge?
I don't think msu warrior/venom spam will work with the wwp, unfortunately. Though trueborn could be devastating!
Don't give up, just work on your delivery system, & troop choices, otherwise it looks a lot like mine.
The Dark Eldar are the thinking man's army, & the wwp is a nice facet.

    Love it

Also on an army list note kross is right, you should be maxing out on hellions wyches and beasts, use the wyches beasts and possibly wracks as troops and then you free up all 3 beast slots, I say wracks as you will want a nice way to deal with horde and flamers are lovely.

Also true born out of the web way.. Interesting idea, I'm toying with the idea of a squad of 10 with 4 shredders, the could tool up with the heamy that dropped the portal, and shred then assault a unit, give the non shredders a ccw and pistol, with 36 attacks on the charge, more if you upgrade to a dracon and 4 small blast templates you should be able to put some punishment into horde units, and with the heamy be fairly survivable as well cost for that unit would be (10 men 4 blasters 1 dracon one power weapon = 160 which is really not bad for what your getting) the other option is 4 blaster toting ones jumping out shouting surprise whilst blowing up some armour for your combat types to get stuck into

Love to see how it goes, I want to try one of these armies one day
