Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ive been curious to know how competative a tau list can get in 1K, so how cheesy can we be?
I love the new IG playing style of running vets, its hilarious from the IG point and the bystander.... probably not from the opponents point of view
So yeah, what units are cheesy and how sneaky can we be?
cheers guys, army lists would appreciated
I've found that Jetpack suits are a real pain at 1000p
I'd prolly go with something like
3x broadsides + drones
6x firewarriors in pathfinders disrupted fish
add some gun/shilelddrones.. I'd prolly go for dakka instead of AP2-1 weapons on the broadsides, if its played on half-table i'd prolly go for Missilepod / flamer
if there is points over a minimum stealthsquad for infiltrate or another squad of kroots
ofcourse Its prolly best to just load up on deathrain + fireknives + fast devilfishes and just try and stay out of range/sight for as long as possible ??
Sweet list dude.
Are pathfinders and skyrays any good?
I really luv the idea of markerlights, but everyone just runs battlesuits and hammerheads. Having fire warriors and loads of market lights needing a 2+ to hit and 2/3+ to wound should be excellent, why dont people do that?
But then again im a dumb blonde who dosent play 40K often
because at 1750-1850 its to easy to kill of your pathfinders that cant move and mark at the same time. but I think they are only 60p for 5 of them so they are a good buy, and a firemagnet =D. Sadly firewarriors are not resilient enough unless you take an ethereal (morale) so you need to be pretty darn good to play firewarriors.
most people use 6xfirewarriors in a fish as an objective grabber. the fish of fury (12 firewarriors in a fast devilfish) isnt as good as it was in 4th (though I love playing them. not well perhaps but thats another story) if you do, they REALY like a markerlight or 2 when they unload, world of difference!
Suits + hammerheads work. though I like my broadsides better, skyrays are awesome but often overlooked (even by your enemy), going 12" and shooting 2 markerlights at different targets is nothing to sneeze at (as they are defensive weapons due to no str). Other solid (but very expensive) platform are the stealthsuit (being relentless means they can move and shoot) so a 3x team with leader+markerlight + 2x markerdrones (there are many ways of outfitting the little buggers with markerlights) works wonders and are realy hard to nail as they allways count as nightfight.
Tetra+Targeting array is another nice choice for its scoutmove. the important thing is not to have all the markerlights in 1 group. they are incredible firemagnets so they are mostly dead when the game is over but thats ok =)
Hammerheads are meant to move 12" keep away from everything so it gets 4+ coversave from disruption pods.. but with only 1 shot I dont realy love it.. some run 3 of em and loves it, mostly playstyle I think.
I love markerlights and rely more on them then on Targeting arrays for my suits etc. its more exciting to nail that 4+ marker shot (or more) and give your big suit unit 3+ and strip some cover from the bad guys.
but never really Rely on them as I've often missed 5/5 markerlight shots from a pathfinder unit =D
try both playstyles they are almost different armies.
one thing to test is 1 ethereal + 2x gundrones that walks with 3x broadsides with ASS and a leader with 2x shielddrones. put them in cover and they are realy neat. and surprisingly durable, havent lost my ethereal in a while now, and when I DO loose him I'm about to get overrun anyhow! =)
but I dont play many tournaments so I dont have to play against alot of internet flavour of the month lists...
The only units I have trouble actually putting in lists (as they Never seem to do ANYTHING) are the Vespids and Snipersquads. I try to use the snipers but they never freaking do anything for me =/, I need someone to explain to me how to use the buggers
