Got a tourney coming up at the seattle bunker!
Got a good mix of everything in the tourney. Probably gk, sm, crons, eldar, chaos, and orks. There's also 1 other nid player
Tyrant - 2x tl devs. 200
Tervigon - ag, ts, catalyst 195
3 hiveguard 150
3 hiveguard 150
Doom w/ pod 130
21 hgaunts w/ toxin sacs 168
9 genestealers (ts) and brood lord w/ scytal 263
Trygon prime 240
Plan is to focus charge one section of opponents army and then work my way around. Hopefully genestealers can outflank in the opposite direction to do a pincer. If not, more beef for my main army.
I know its not conventional but I dunno. Help me out. I got another tervigon, another trygon, 3 biovores, 3 zoans, prime, tgaunts, gargoyles, tyrant guard. What should I do.
Ps I did this on my phone. Excuse typos and points we off my head. Thanks
jk. new list
hive tyrant- 2x tl devourers, wings, paroxsym, hive commander, old adversary
prime- deathspitter, dual boneswords,
3 hive guard
2 hive guard
doom w/ spore
9 genestealers (ts) w/ blord (scytal)
20 hgaunts- ts
thats 1500 exact.
hows that looking?
same tactic. focus rush one side. gargoyles up front. screening flyrant. gaunts follow backed with a trygon prime, with hive guard sluggishly following behind with a prime attached.
genestealers hopefully come in on other board side. if not, reinforce the main force. doom hopefully lands in the middle of opponents army to cause a distraction and hopefully dwindle down his forces.
tell me what you guys think! i need help asap!
and should i be deepstriking my trygon?
I belive that you should exclude the Hive Tyrant unless you give him either wings or Tyrant Guards. Once the Gargoyles are down he is dead.
Also you lack Troops. You want at least 3 of them. Why not include a Tervigon in your list? Or even better two Tervigons? they will provide you with plenty of Troops to go for the whole game and they are pretty hard to kill.
I don't like the Doom much. In fact you have better swap it for 2 Zoans.
Hope I helped.
Zoans are so worth it over doom they cost less so you can field more AND it's synapse while Doom is not but I would consider either more gargoyles to defend your tyrant or drop it and use the points on something else perhaps a tervigon???

Also if you do ds your Trygon it will die relatively quickly it happens in all my games cause everything moves away and shoots the crapp out of it and even with 6 wounds it not hoping to last too long the only real use I find is to use the tunnel for gaunts hence you need more troops or another tervigon to provide troops
To try and show how bad this tactic is, consider this. You have one brood of guants. You wish to tunnel them. In order for this to work you have to have the trygon come in first (essentially turn 2 or your in trouble anyway) AND the guants not come in. So your already only having it work one time in 4 games, and all those times it doesnt work your guants are useless as they slog on from the back of the board. But most nid lists pack a reserves bonus of some form. So you then have to get a 3+ for your trygon, and then NOT get a 3+ for the guants, otherwise the tactic is busted. It comes out around a one in ten chance to actually have stuff turn up in the right order, which is just madness to base a strategy on.
In short, consider it a nice bonus if it so happens to work, but never ever count on it happening. Its for your own good.
As for the list (assuming the second one), Mr re-roll is on the right lines. You do need more troops. But just shoving in a tervigon is certainly not the way to do it, not only because of the points costs but because it really wouldn't sit well with the list currently.
The best thing would be to add in would be another 20 hormagaunts. Although you say you dont have any more currently, could you get some? Because they would be the ideal thing to bring in. However if you cant, you'll need to do a bit of a re-shuffle.
You'll need to axe the prime first, but where is he going at the moment anyway? The Hive guard make a really poor place because you waste his CC potential to act as a bullet sink or a CC deterant. Except that if an opponent wants them dead (and a smart opponent will) they'll kill them up close anyway. You dont need this guy.
Also lose the gargoyles. Flyrants just aren't good enough these days, and are too fragile to be really worth taking. Switch him out for a walking tyrant with a guard. The extra wounds, attacks and the ability to get cover saves (which gargoyles will actually struggle with) is gold. Also, lose OA.
As for Doom versus zoanthropes - Doom is actually very very powerful when used correctly and in the right list. Comparing him to zoanthropes however is just daft though, since the two do such radically different jobs. Doom is an infantry killing machine, whilst zoans are extraordinary tank hunters. In this case you do need the extra anti tank though so better switch him for thropes but make no mistake, Doom can be very potent. Whilst zoeys are consistently good (and that goes out the window against armies with psychic defense let me point out) Doom can be extraordinary. Some days he'll die to the first melta gun, some days he'll tie up some GK termies with a kitted out librarian for 4 rounds of combat, then kill the lot and go out and contest an objective and win the game. And by no means is that a rare occurance.
The gargoyles just need to go for points.
With the savings, you can either grab yourself those 20 hormaguants, if you'll buy some more (which i can really recommend) and have change for biovores, or you can cram in some termaguants. They're not great, but use them to screen the tyrant and his guard to grant them cover, and possibly claim an objective. Id love to get a terivgon but there doesnt seem to be a way to make it work decently with the points restriction.
